Nah I think there are different ways spelling it. I just like to write Ang because it's easier to type.

Ew. Ew ew ew ew ew ew EWWWWWW!!!!
I don't really like Avatar, to put it in kinder words...
Well its like this:
If anime is a JAPANESE cartoon like thing, than how the heck could avatar be anime? Its american based!!!!! Leave anime where it should be. Japan.

Hmm...maybe you guys can think of this: The american version of anime would be called a CARTOON!!! Yes, that seems americanish to me. Very americanish.

What is ^ with wannabe anime?? Anime is an art and Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network are killing it. Anime is supposed to be a beautiful art ---> which it is - when its not cheap and crappy wanna be anime. They seriously need to think about it. NICKELODEON AND CARTOON NETWORK ARE KILLING, yes, KILLING an ancient art! It's just not right!! Anime wasn't meant to become a "lost art"! It needs to stay alive! ALL art needs to stay alive, NO wanna be of whatever art it is should kill it! Thats just wrong!!!! I'd give my heart to save beautiful art, like anime.

To sum it up, tv shows need to stop freaking killing art. Its wrong, VERY wrong. Hmm...I should write a letter to Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network...haha.

Hehe first of all this show doesn't get known as a anime.. So basically all that you said was quite irrelivent.. But on the other hand I agree with basically most of the things you said. Avatar is a cartoon and it was made in the USA so its not wanting to be like anime =P.

Sorry, Sierra. But I have to say, a lot of what you wrote sounds very ignorant. They're not trying to ruin an artform. They are trying to honor it, even if it's by means of their own interpretation. If you were to try to create your own manga or even just sketch some manga-esque figures and they didn't look quite right, would you be trying to ruin the artform?

I'm not trying to call you out or anything. Quite the contrary. I just think you should be more tolerant of this sort of thing and learn to appreciate the omage that they are paying to this wonderful style of artistry.

^Thank you kami-sama!

Though there are a lot of cartoons that really did a bad interpretation on anime, Avatar is not one of them. Avatar is so good, I, don't consider it, but announce it as anime. It captured all the concepts of animation.

Its not Wannabe anime Its Anime Style. The show is more appealing (especially to us Otakus) if its Anime style. Im actually proud of Avatar, you dont see Anime style shows like that anywhere the only thing close to it is Teen Titans but the drawings arent even that close. You should watch the show before criticizing it. to story line is pretty good but you're probably too shallow to see that anyway.

Sierra you don't have much of Asian blood inside you and I take it that you barely watch anime as much as some of us. Why complain? (Wow I just realized I was very racist). Sorry I was pissed off by this post and I felt like being honest.

And Anime isn't ancient, mind you. First developed around the what was it...1980's? or 1970's?

^^ Even so, on the little Nickelodeon special, it was American artists that were drawing Aang. And you can tell it isn't dubbed, so...yeah. I don't know, but my thoughts were along the lines that Avatar is an American animation.

Ok, for the last time, Avatar was created by two american guys. It is produced in america, and the voices are americans.

Guess what though? The animators are all from Korea, and theyre all done in Korea.

The animation credits alternate between JM Animation, who have been a part of series such as Macross Zero, Noein - Mou Hitori no Kimi e, and Sousei no Aquarion.

The second, DR Movie Animation, have been a part of such anime as The Cowboy Bebop Movie, Card Captor Sakura movies 1/2, Jin-Roh, and even the Last Order, the Final Fantasy VII movie.

My point is that people keep complaining that this isnt anime because americans do it, when the actual art is done by professional ANIME animators. It may not be written or produced as anime, but it is, without any doubt, anime.
