QUOTE(Phear @ Dec 7 2005, 2:55 PM)
I was wondering if you were able to make a layout with all the given categories for a MySpace in photoshop and then slicing it, would you be able to make it work on your MySpace using Div Overlay?????
*

Yes. If you change the output settings, of course. And get rid of the '#' in the DIV's you get after having saved it.

QUOTE(lexiemai @ Dec 8 2005, 1:14 PM)
Ok, I'm not exactly sure if this is what I'm looking for but...simple question: Is this the box that you can use to invade someone's myspace? Like you know, you put the seperate writing or something like that in it....Just wondering. Need it desperately if it is. I tried the code but I'm not sure I used it right...
*

Invade?

^ Tell us what part you need help on? Help's not very specific

QUOTE(lilskylinechic @ Dec 20 2005, 10:48 AM)
sorry well i need help on the whole thing...well the first thing do i design the layout first???
*

^ Yea that would be the easy way to design your layout first.
Then upload it and start your diving in myspace.

QUOTE(lilskylinechic @ Dec 20 2005, 12:05 PM)
i'll be back when im done designing lol...thanks very much ur soo helpful!l lol well thanks i'll be back for quite a while i need to learn how to use the photoshop...

hug.gif THANKS AGAIN lol

okay now im done with the layout... what do i do next?!? huh.gif
*

You basically use the code provided in your myspace and follow the steps.
So like you would upload it and have
CODE
<style type="text/css">
.Main { position:absolute; left:50%; top:125px; width:800px; z-index:1; margin-left:-400px; padding:0px; border:0px; background-color:transparent;}
</style>

in about me and this in who'd I like to meet
CODE
<DIV class="Main"> <table style="width:800px; height:600px; cellpadding:0px; cellspacing:0px; border:2px solid silver; background-color:ffffff;}"> <tr> <td valign="top">
<img src="URLTOYOURDESIGN">
DIVS FOR CONTENT HERE
</td> </tr> </table> </DIV>

then go back to this tutorial and read how Sammi says to do the divs and then you play around in positioning those till you get them right. Just post the code were I wrote divs for content here.

Any other questions just pm me .

QUOTE(misfit @ Dec 21 2005, 4:38 PM)
I'm kinda confused...so I should go make a div lay in psp or something...then upload it and put the url in the code next to img src?And then I have to mess around with the positioning to get it right?I mean where will I write all my content?Gah I wish there was a more simple way...I suck at this.
*

^ Yea you can do that.
You don't have ot position the image. You position divs. Then inbetween the "> and </div> you write all your content. So basically the divs are positiong your content.

QUOTE(lilskylinechic @ Dec 21 2005, 6:10 PM)
ok thanks!! hug.gif
*

QUOTE(misfit @ Dec 21 2005, 6:36 PM)
Ok so ill just use the code in the first post of this thread and then upload the image and so on.....just checkin heh..coz how you have another code in the above post..
*

IT doesn't matter they end up doing the same thing. Making the div overlay.

QUOTE(misfit @ Dec 22 2005, 10:32 AM)
Lol I just cant win...ah theres no submit button...and the div lay is sitting at the top.

^ Where there is all the 000 you actually have to put numbers in there. and play around with those numbers soo you get the content in the right spot.

You would have to set the large main picture to the background DIV, and have the words in the one star set to a new DIV level.

so my div is on top of my picture correct?

^thankyou!

ok. so i tried it but the profile isnt hidden [with the code given to me] and the content is going to the far right overlapping the extended network which is supposed to be hidden.

EDIT: nvm i figured it out

=( i've tried with a div layout so many times,it's not fair grr!And every time it turns out looking wrong,i'm hopeless.I just don't see what i'm doing wrong each time..
*

what is your myspace profile you are using to make the div layout? maybe i can see what's wrong.

also i have a question myself; im trying to move some content for a div to the left but even when i change the dimensions so that it goes to the correct place it wont budge, it wont go any farther then left:100px idk if thats just how it works or if i can do something so that it goes farther to the left..

how do you get the bg-overlay to cover the whole page?

www.myspace.com/kahlk252
*i admit that i do not have much prior html knowledge, i just wanted to try doing this.
---nvm now, i have a grasp on everything now. thanks!
*
^ Use the hide profile script
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=87336 is one way.

QUOTE(seaweed @ Jan 16 2006, 11:39 AM)
What is the suggested size of the image for the overlay layout?

^ It doesn't really matter to me I would atleast use a 800x600 .

^^ no less than 800px in width, nor 600 px in height, to cover the default profile.

QUOTE(asian x h0ng @ Jan 21 2006, 11:31 AM)
what is a div ?

EDiT -
or how do you make a div to cover up your bottom links ?
*

^ Use the hide your profile code in scripts and edit the settings to make your top to bottom links covered.

or

Make the image you use for your div go all the way down to cover those links, by hiding most of your profile then it will be easier for your div layout to hide them.

A div overlay is like having your own design cover up the original myspace ones. Look in myspace layouts + showcase for some examples.

QUOTE(steffymae @ Jan 21 2006, 10:17 PM)
my overlay....is...half way good. haha I just...am lacking stuff...idk anyway
this is a pretty cool way to explain this stuff. I got my info from elsewhere and I didn't get it really..but now I do.
thanks a million

oh, and my top links wont cover all the way. does anyone know a code for that? like I tried using a code and it wouldnt work. is there one specially made for an overlay?
*

^ http://forum.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseact...oupID=100636674
Maybe?

QUOTE(steffymae @ Jan 21 2006, 10:24 PM)
heh thats one of the ones i've tried
maybe I'm doing it wrong..
I would put them in my style tags, correct? I did and nothing happened.
*

Correct. There has been a problem with hiding the bottom links maybe the same goes for the top as well?
My only other suggestion would be if you used the "Hide your profile" code then you can just move it up as far as you can to cover the links, but that may set your divs off a bit.

QUOTE(stupidlilsmarty @ Feb 4 2006, 11:26 AM)
Okay so i really want to make my profile div overlay, but im so confused

help?
*

^what parts don't you get. If you don't get absolutely NONE of it then just make a topic about it so its easier to help you out :).

QUOTE(crazedchick @ Feb 5 2006, 2:28 AM)
Could someone show an example or explain what you're supposed to do with this code? im so confused, but i really want to customize my myspace using a div overlay wacko.gif
*

For examples you can look under myspace layouts for the divs ones.
The codes are divs. So say you made your layout in a program then coded it then you get your div layout.

QUOTE(MikeTeh1337 @ Feb 5 2006, 8:44 PM)
ok im really bad at making div and stuff but im learning.. may I ask what photoshop or program do you people use to make it?

I use photoshop lots of people use the following:
- Photoshop (recommended)
- Paint shop pro
- Gimp (free program similar)
- Flash
- Flash studio

Try doing it this way. Use this code to hide your profile:
http://www.createblog.com/scripts/download.php?id=45
Then in the code in who'd I like to meet where it says add your content here just put <img src="imgurltobghere">
Then add the following code everytime you want to add content like a comment box etc:
CODE
<div class="content" style="position: absolute; left:000px;  top:000px; width:000px; height:000px; overflow: auto;"><center>
lalalalala this is your content!
</div>

By second div do you mean this code:
CODE
<div class="content" style="position: absolute; left:000px;  top:000px; width:000px; height:000px; overflow: auto;"><center>
lalalalala this is your content!
</div>

as long as your have more text than the desired width then it will automaticall scroll.

For a border:
CODE
<div class="content" style="position: absolute; left:000px;  top:000px; width:000px; height:000px; overflow: auto; border: 1px 000000 solid"><center>
lalalalala this is your content!
</div>

I have to give you props for that really fast reply. If you want you can check my test page, www.myspace.com/flip_stylz1 and check my source.You can tell that I attempted to see if it would scroll. Unfortunately, erm...It didn't. [sigh]

Btw, I didn't attempt at putting the code here, (Kinda noob right now so I don't know much about forums) thinking it'd do something when posted.
