I was wondering the same thing. I know where I live it became popular because of this song called "Vans" other that that I really dont know. I started wearing Vans before it became ttrendy though. When I get money Im going to buy some more.

They didn't become popular all of a sudden. They've been popular for a long time. I went through my VANS phase six years ago. And I still love them.

They're popular at my school, but more to the rebel & punk crowd.
I really want to buy at pair of black and blue ones but I think people might call me a poser or something since they are "skater shoes".

Vans slip-ons are in the trend, but Converses are still more popular.
Converses get worn out too easily, Vans are more durable.

There is a Vans song?!

Anyway, I have always loved Vans. Their slip-ons are beyond comfortable. I wear my pair almost everyday. I used to have a pair of black and white checkered with cherries, but alas, I wore them too much, down to the bone.

I now own a pair of black and pink checkered. I think that I am going to get the electric green/blue checkered next.
