For those who were born out of United States and have moved here, do you guys have an American name?

And if yes, then what do you prefer people calling you?

I have three friends and they aren't from America and they have their own names. This one girl I switch around, and this other girl i call her by the name that she had since 3rd grade. But this one guy has an American name but he doesn't really like it, but everyone already knows him as that name so he can't change it.

So what do you call people by?

I don't have a foreign name, but, a lot of the people at my school has a foreign name, and then a name they prefer to be called. I usually call them by that name. For example, my boyfriend has a Chinese name, but I usually only call him by his "American" name.

I was born in the UK, but I'm Punjabi with a Hindu name. That's the only name I use, and go by.

By uncles father-in-law however, goes by "Frank" and you know damn well that he is neither Frank, nor does his name begine with a 'F'. laugh.gif

My name is Toby.. and I hate it so badly. I think it makes me sound fobby. :P My mom named me, and hell yes, she is a fob.

Haha, I hate the first day of school. No, not because it's school, it's because I'm afraid of how teachers will pronounce my name pinch.gif

My real name is Bidita (it's a Bengali name because my parents are from India) and my "middle" name is Teesa. So I always have to say I go by Teesa. But everyone likes saying both names nowadays, so I answer to whatever =]

well..i was born in the U.S. and i was born Grace so i go by grace..but my foreign name is Ting Ting..which no one calls me..but if i were in taiwan...theyd call me by my taiwanese nickname...which is different from the above..

alot of ppl at my school have foreign names..for example...id be talking about my friend David..and his/my friends would be like..wait..which..u mean Dai Wei? and its really confusing b/c some ppl know him by his chinese name and others his english name..so theyre like..i dont know a david but i know a Wei Dai. so its confusing when someone uses both of their names in school..and were talking about the same ppl w/o even realizing it..

haha..and there was this comedian the other day who was making fun of ppl who use 2 names..and theyre nothinngg like each other..."hey, my real name is Zhang Du Wang, but you can call me Herbert" loll

My real name is Arjuna. I was actually called that most of my elementary years but some kid (I don't know who) started calling me Archie. Then came Archibald, Arch, Chi, and a whole bunch of other names. Archie was the one that stuck though, so most people just call me Archie. A lot easier for the subsitute teachers.

Some close people still call me Arjuna though.

A ton of my friends have foreign names.. one guy, David (his american name) hates being called Peichen, which is his foreign name. I call him that all the time. There are other people who just go by their foreign names though. They're cool. Xinyi, Jeechee, Minsoo. Very cool.

My Russian friend always went by her American name, Barbara--until she got to college, and then she started going by her Russian name, Varia (roughly pronounced VA-dee-ah, or some I'm told by her). It was kind of weird at first, but now I couldn't imagine calling her anything but Varia.

Wow....I love all these beautiful names happy.gif
Haha this kid in my class, his name is Maci. (MUH-see)
Its always funny cuz when a substitute is teaching, they always assume Maci is a girl so they pronounce it like Macy. He gets so pissed, the last time he yelled out, "IT FREAKING MUH-SEE!! ALL YOU FREAKING SUBS NEED TO GET IT RIGHT, OKAY?!??" He was suspended for two days tongue.gif
