When the world is so large, and being a person who wants to experience, see, and know all that I can, I hardly understand why people would want to "Settle" so badly.
Please explain. |

When the world is so large, and being a person who wants to experience, see, and know all that I can, I hardly understand why people would want to "Settle" so badly. Please explain. It's just part of life. You're forgetting that people have different opinions. Besides, not everyone wants to see the world for what it is. They're content with the place the world has given them. Marriage is an essential part of life that gives you lots of experience. One more thing, getting married doesn't mean "no freedom". My sister and her husband travel around the world basically every week! Once my sister had a daughter, they would go on vacations during school breaks and visit more sights to give them more experience. |

My sister and her husband travel around the world basically every week! Once my sister had a daughter, they would go on vacations during school breaks and visit more sights to give them more experience. It's not so much no freedom, but...argh, I've explained what I meant in the other post, and we're just obviously of two VERY different mindsets. I get where you're coming from, but I doubt I can get through to you about where I'M coming from. Yeah, but watch how often he goes places by himself anymore. Also, watch how often he goes out with other women (and don't tell me "He has a wife, so he never wants to go anywhere with any other woman ever!") Point three, that's just one couple. On average, marraige after the first few years involves getting a home and a job, and existing in the city or suburbs 95% of the time. Maybe you take 1 or 2 vacations a year, but it's fooling yourself, because you just have to go back to a sh*t job and a person you have to stay with "for better or worse." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Besides, not everyone wants to see the world for what it is." You realize that this is quite a terrible statement. It's saying you don't want knowledge or truth that is available to you. I'm not saying it's untrue, though, and it's why Bush was elected twice, and there's nothing but BAD, UNIMAGINITIVE rock music, FAKE, MISREPRESENTATIVE hip hop, and BRAINLESS pop music on television...and that's just describing half an hour of the bad things that come on MTV2 at any time. I hope you aren't saying that that stament applies to yourself. You DO realize that the words "anime otakus" really is't possible (why do you have an S at the end of nihongo), and that no woman like that would actually hang around an "anime otaku". Just outta curiousity, are you an old guy, or a young girl. |

^I'm a young girl. Very young I should say. And what's wrong with expressing my passion for anime? It's partly my culture (considering it originated in Japan). And I think it's beautiful work. Besides, i didn't make my signature, I chose it because it was pretty cute ^_^.
Anyways, alright I understand your need to actually go out and learn. But you don't understand. You're being very close-minded (in my opinion). And did you make up the statistics? I have a very good feeling you did... If people want to get married, don't go and say, "DON'T GET MARRIED, YOU'LL LOSE ALL PRIVILEGES TO TRY OUT EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD." And like I'm saying, you're forgetting all the points. Not everyone thinks like you (it would be a nice world if they did though). Some people just want to settle because they probably already had enough of life. Or just so..well..they can be happy. I'm not (edit note: hehe I forgot to put in not) going to judge if it's a poor reason to marry or what not. It's a person's choice. |

I'm going to judge if it's a poor reason to marry or what not. It's a person's choice. " I'm going to judge if it's a poor reason to marry or what not. " What does that even mean? It's only God's job to judge. Are you God? What about judge not lest ye be judged? I'm pretty sure it was obvious that I made up the 95%. It was supposed to act as a "most of the time", not as an actual statistic. What you've just told me in that abomination of a grammatical paragraph is that I shouldn't have an opinion, because "it's a person's choice", and not everyone thinks like me (and apparently, because only YOU are able to judge things). This IS an internet forum, in place for the purpose of discussion. As far as my being "closed-minded" (there's no such word as close-minded, dear), I'll take a look at whether I was or not, however, just because I'm disagreeing with you doesn't make me closed-minded, and I have a feeling that this is how you're looking at it. You also seem to be putting words in quotations for me that I never said. STOP IT! For the last time, I didn't say in ALL cases that these happen, but in a significant majority. If you're going to sit and actively deny that love exists pretty similarly among most people, as in what they think it is, what they want from it, and how they experience it, well then...nothing, because it's the internet. As far as your signature...you typed anime otakus. You don't add "s" to the end of nihongo. Do you ever tell friends that you went out to eat sushis, or for that matter, you love watching animes? It's just funny looking is all. I'm not even going to get into why I don't like anime, but I will say that if you want to follow your culture, there's A LOT MORE than anime to the essence of Japan. Anta wa nihongo wo hanasu koto ga dekimasu ka? Somehow, I'm sure the answer is no. Last, but not least, you should never reveal that you're a girl on the internet, even if you are. It's dangerous for girls with all the guys looking for cyber. Furthermore, you should NEVER admit that you're a "VERY YOUNG" girl. Honestly, young girls and their naive opinions, ideals, and desires are a huge part of what is wrong with internet discussion and Myspace in general...That, and well, it's dangerous for very young girls with all the child-predator guys looking for cyber. |

^Like I said, "I DIDN'T MAKE THE SIGNATURE"
and about the judging thing. ![]() and disagreeing with me doesn't make you close-minded, just the fact that you think marriage is like a freedom-taking part of life...without taking other's thoughts in consideration.. besides you said in your first post you wanted to explain why people wanted to settle, I explained my side and yet you looked for an argument. //edit Everyone knows I'm a young girl in here..so it's kinda pointless to lie about it now. |

QUOTE("") "DON'T GET MARRIED, YOU'LL LOSE ALL PRIVILEGES TO TRY OUT EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD." I love the sarcasm there...I suppose it all comes down to how a couple handles their relationship / marriage. But sadly, that statement is true for most couples...once you get locked down it's almost impossible to have your daily freedom because of trust issues and how fast this world is moving anymore, also for some reason, there's a huge jealousy issue with couples now a days O_O! Anyway from my experience with these types of things: I've never seen a long term relationship (that leads to marriage) as a way to have your freedom taken away (all of my relationships have been extremely good compared to others)...I mean, in my relationship, we are both extremely happy compared to the mainstream couples who are always fighting and arguing. So for us, seeing each other is more of a freedom rather than bind / burden...and we practically almost live together now...and it's always a never ending happiness between us. So it does vary... ...and also it's nice to have emotional support behind you when you are aiming for a professional baseball career...someone to pick you up when you pitch bad games, and to cheer you on when you pitch good games. I can see myself getting married in the future and not only living happily and successfully, but with a mature, loyal and down to earth wife. But if being married means having your freedom cut down, then thats your fault altogether I think. I think it's the married couple's job to sit down, have some quiet time and discuss things that deal with going places / travel. Communication & trust is definitely key. LHHRS Kevyn @-)-------- |

I didn't. I really still don't, since we've never met. I'm going to assume that you're a balding middle-aged man. You assume that. Don't give me lectures. Seriously. I posted my pictures here before (I don't anymore). And when I say everyone, I mean a majority of Cbers. A lot of people here aren't new. And by the way, don't take everything I say so LITERALLY! and Kevyn, that was I had in mind. Thank you for being reasonable! |

And by the way, don't take everything I say so LITERALLY! You need to follow your own advice, jack*ass. 1. I'm toying with you. 2. I don't take anything you type seriously, even when you're trying. It's cool with me, because you're the one getting mad over this. I have a sense of humor that many people will honestly never be able to get. You are one of these people. Personally, I think your little baby tantrums are sexy, so keep 'em comin'! |
