we all heard the stories. kids getting shot for jordans. riots at jordan releases. employees stealing jordans from their stores to sell on ebay. etc.
the markup resell value on the recent "DMP" release is more than 250%. worldwide, jordan brand only produced 11,000 pairs, a pathetic ammount. there were numerous riots, but thankfully no deaths. is jordan brand wrong for producing such a limited ammount of their product and allowing this to happen? or is it the consumers fault for buying into this hype? also, is jordan brand fiscally irresponsible? debate! |

If this interests you, you should read the book Jennifer Government by Max Barry. Which reminds me, I better borrow it from the library since I didn't finish it.
In any case, I think its the customers' fault. Although I personally think high markup prices are wrong, the customers aren't forced to buy the product (unlike gasoline). |

It's the people's fault. They chose to behave that way. They're greedy, PICKY, ignorant, childish, and have no respect. They don’t control themselves from what they want. Why would it be Jordan’s fault?
There are other things that people can buy plus it’s cheaper! |

Why would it be Jordan’s fault? materialism is not the only reason people buy these. some people buy for financial gain (reselling) and some buy as an investment (collecting). jordan brand is exploiting the consumer by producing such a small amount that some people are so desperate for a pair that they will stop at nothing to get one. jordan brand is fully aware of this and does nothing to prevent this. i think that is wrong.. |

Kind of off topic, but that commercial on TV for Jordan right now is pretty sweet.
I think it's just the music I like. |

they are just as socially irresponsible as Ty for their beanie babies. Angry middle aged women mobbed for those. Or tickle me elmo. suburban parents mobbed for those. Its sales. People want it, make a few and they sell out. then all the people who didnt get them are first in line to get the next one.

Nope. The Jordan brand is not responsible for the "shoe-related" crimes out there. Prices are high, true that, but it's all about supply and demand.
