okay.

i've been friends with this guy that lives about 25 minutes away for about a year. i invited him to a formal [dance] we had a school two weekends ago [not as a date, just so he could come hang out].

well. he ended up liking one opf my best friends. and she likes him too. so. they're dating [going out. they're boyfriend & girlfriend. whatever you wanna call it.] and they told me last because they said i'd get mad.

wtf?

i found out last night and they've been dating since friday night.

i don't know if i should be sad.. upset.. or what?
because i feel very upset.

i think it's okay to feel upset since i think the feeling is that you don't feel that you're important enough to them to be told about such things. it's also okay to feel upset that they don't trust you enough and know you well enough to understand you wouldn't be angry about their relationship. well, it would do no good if you just STAYED upset. talk and tell them your feelings

Oh yeah, you can feel upset, but what good is that going to do you? I'd just shrug it off. They were only trying to spare your feelings. Clearly they did a bad job of that, but they're your friends, and there's no sense in losing them over anything. Maybe you could tell them that they should be more trusting of you and your feelings in the future, but I wouldn't get too mad—the fact that they were trying not to upset you shows that they care about you a lot.

i was upset. you have a right to be upset.
basically, if your two friends are really friends, they wouldn't have told you last, thats messed up.

I would definitely be upset. People shouldn't assume things like that, they can't prove that you're going to freak out before you really do. People used to do that all the time, then it turns out I freaked out anyway because of them keeping me from knowing.

we'll its ovbious that you 'found' this guy before you best friend, then all of a sudden, he goes for you best friend, i guess its a normal thing to feel, but also f**ked up b/c while you 'bestfriend' is dating this guy, she keeps it a secret from you; NO bestfriend keeps a secret like THAT =/

youre upset because they didnt tell you. but youre not upset at them. just because you were last to find out. it always sucks to be last to find out. i hate that.
