i propose that all topic titles must be PG.

this way, if anyone choose to look over the titles, they won't think cB's a bunch of perverted people.

I actually haven't seen many bad topic titles, that is, unless you look in the locker rooms. Of course our definitions may be different.

(Geez I've forgotten about by-laws blink.gif )

I agree, but could you give an example of topic titles? Or I think we should have warnings IN the subtitles if something is risque.

What titles are you talking about that are over PG right now?
You mean the locker room topics?

I think people are usually good about the titles.
I mean there are a few here or there, but usually if the title is that bad, then the whole topic usually gets closed because it's content inside the topic is inappropriate.

Unless you have an example of something??

edit-
And usually if it's a really bad topic title or something, then a mod has the power to change it. Unless the topic itself needs to be closed.

But i understand why you are proposing it.

well, i think words like mastrabation and sex shouldn't be in topic titles.

i think it sets the wrong image for cB. sure, talk about it, but don't advertize it so blatantly.

i mean, the topic titles are bold.

and when you go down say, the locker rooms, and see 5 topics about mastrubation, and 10 topics screaming SEX it's starting to look like an unmodderated yahoo chatroom list.

So this is basically for the locker rooms? Yeah, I agree that some of the topic titles should be a little more modest, but on the other hand, It's the girls locker room, and boys locker room. Anyone with half a brain know what they are going to see when entering those forums. But yeah, they should be a bit more modest.

For me, personally, I only have seen very few topic titles that are above the PG-13 rule and those kind of topics have their topic titles editted or closed altogether. You mention about sex and masterbation topic titles but these things are a natural part of sexual health, so why censor it? Granted, there are like a bazillion topics on both subjects, but look at the overall average age of the forum, alot of our members are teens and teens are naturally curious about this types of things. Also, as a whole with sex type topics, if it goes even a little beyond PG-13 these topics are usually closed very quickly. Meh, my two cents.

I'm not sure this is something that needs to be addressed in the by-laws, for several reasons. First of all, by-laws govern the internal workings of an organization; this rule deals with external policy.

Secondly, I think we already have something in place to deal with this issue. We have a "PG-13 and below" rule. If a topic title is inappropriate, it's quite easy for a moderator to change it.

i certainly dont agree with the idea that certain words should not be included in topic titles. i agree with kiera on this issue.

although, if we ARE going to propose laws about topic titles i would rather see one which say's that all topic titles must give an indication of the contents, as this allows those who are ofended by sex or whatever to simply not click on it.

plus, you know, i get tired of OMG topic titles

im not sure i like the idea
you cant set a pg limit for titles and a pg 13 limit for the actual content . . . thats kind of stupid

as long as the title fits the topic i dont have a problem with it

*agrees with heather*

let's consider her topic in health about anal sex. that has been dubbed acceptable, and has been allowed to reman open. hence, it should havea an appropriate title, so that if people ARE offended by it regardless of official approval, they can avoid it.

if we censored her title, chances ar the number of people who truly didnt want to read about anal sex and still viewed th ethread would actually increase

It's really not our problem if someone's parent isn't OK with them looking at the site. We're not going to change for that person. O_o

Maybe they shouldn't be looking at things they're not allowed to look at. ><

Yeah, but the title's "anal sex", not "getting screwed in the back" or something. *Cough*. Pardon me. The term "anal sex" itself is acceptable, it's just the more graphic descriptions that aren't.

I think that as long as the titles are appropriately worded in the least offensive way possible (like using the proper scientific terms), it's fine. If the content in the thread itself is PG-13, then a warning should be made clear on the title.

I agree with this. The titles should be mature about it.

gigi, that was the point i was addressing my post towards.

If something like that is going to be prevented. Does that refer to layouts? I remember seeing an accepted cB layout that label real blood, sex (term), drugs (term), pills (term), and a half naked man. In showcase, I kind of remember two half naked guys kissing each other in a bad way like ... grabbing ... something like that. Oh yeah! There was a HUGE "f**k me" text on banner. No, I’m not against homosexuality and support it.

^^ well that obviously isnt pg13 if they are grabbing on each other's penises

i really just dont see any valid reason to lower the rating for topic titles and not the actual 'content' for the site

and createblog isnt out to cure ignorant parents or keep them on the dl it just isnt cb's problem

Okay, so if we're not going to use masturbation and sex in the topic titles, then what are we going to use? Playing With Your Weewee and Making Hoopla?

IMO, the terms masturbation and sex are fine if used in an appropriate manner. There's a difference between a title like "What is your take on masturbation", "Underage sex" and "omGg, lyk, is masterbatoin bad for u?!?!", "ewWW isSN't it grosS for 12 yEAr oLDs to hhaF sex?!?!? "
