Haha at first I didn't get what you meant by "sunforum clubs." Anyway...yeah, it's a good thing that there could be smaller communities, but it just seems to seperate people of createblog as a whole.

Well, then if createblog must be big, then we have to accept that topics in the lounge isn't going to be fast and active..and certainly not in the subforums.

Oh, and one thing I'd like to add is the whole AIM or IRC chat not being as active as the past. The few times I go to the two chats, it seems to be empty a LOT more often than when I used to be active in there. It could have a lot to do with it, since chatting in the community really isn't as effective as chats that gets fast reponse.

mmm... the chats fadng away is a definite shame... although, there really isnt a way in which this can be remedied, unless it's through more 'events', like the christmas ball...

Probably not. It doesn't take that much organization.

Well, we never used to have these balls, but people were active anyway. I'm not sure why it's not active anymore though. It's cuz I left. Hahaha. Or yeah, a lot of people that were active left.

the AIM chat is active sometimes. all you need to do is invite people and they'll talk.

It kind of bothers me when people complain about CB not being so close-knit anymore. Obviously, everyone was much closer a year ago (and I miss it too), but there were half as many members. When you have this many active, prominent members...not everyone's going to be friends. Yes, CB is like a high school - there are cliques and there are people who stick to a certain group and don't really associate with others that much, just as there would be in any community. But why is that such a problem? It's an inevitable thing. In any group of people, there will always be some separation. Just as in your life offline, you're not best friends with everyone you know. You talk most to those that you're closest to.

I wasn't complaining. I was stating what the problem could be. People pointing out stuff like "you're spamming" or caring so much about the rules. Actually, I don't really care if cB isn't close-knit anymore. I would care if the people who were close to me were still here, but they quit. That's why the last question came up. Why did they quit?...Because it became a "high school" more than a "community." People come here to get out of school. Now coming here is just like being in a school because of the seperation, and the rules. Now people wonder why it got to be like that, trying to make the community better when it could only be the people that change it. Not the subforums or anything else.

*shrug* I may be stating the obvious, but some people don't realize. What's wrong with talking "back in the day"? That's why this thread was so active.

why are 'high school' and 'community' mutually exclusive?

a high school is a type of community, and the one which most suits the current state of cb.

i do, however, agree that rules are sometimes tedious... i dont mean to single out kiera, but she closed a topic in forum games which steven made, which was actually pretty funny... some people were chatting in it, it wasn't hurting anyone... it didnt need to go.

I don't think it's so much that we're not as close as we used to be, because cliques are obvious, and I think in retrospect we forget that there was something of a cool group back then, too. However, the cliques now are actually much more blatant. You know, it's exactly the same as anything else - people don't like that others complain, yet they themselves wind up complaining. It's a sad, inevitable cycle. It accomplishes just as much to complain as not to, so it's not something to fret over.

I hardly mean that it's not worth trying to be optimistic, but I'm not going to be hypocritical enough to chasize you for something everyone does.

Actually, gossip really is a fantastic way to unite people. I was amazed how quickly the rumor about the kid jumping off the atrium spread around my school.

We have this ridiculous tardy system this year, where there's only one place to go if you're late, so they arranged to all go straight there instead of class at a certain time, but they forgot about the catch where if you're more than 5 minutes late you're just counted AWOL. Thus, the first 20 people got tardies and the rest were counted AWOL, so they really just skrewed themselves, with little real annoyance to the school.
