A friend of mine and I both like these guys and we don't think they like us so we are thinking about asking them to sadies as friends. What do you think they will expect? Because it's not supposed to be a date, but we aren't supposed to just hang out are we? Like, do people dance together on a not a date kind of date? Is asking someone to a dance as a friend even common?
Thanks. |

course it is. a lot of people dance "as friends" just because all they are is friends.

I think it's fine to dance with friends. I have never gone to a dance with an actual date, I think it's more fun just to dance with your guy friends. But if you actually like him, maybe you should just ask him as a regular date. Nothing risked, nothing gained right?

Yeah I think it's alright to dance, but at appropriate times. Asking to dance only on slow songs is a little obvious, but just hanging out and dancing is cool.

I would expect having a good time and end up going home playing Halo. My friends are ignorant. They never want anything more than just being friends.

i think going to a dance as friends is perfectly normal. lols..i don't see anything wrong with it. i mean if you don't want them to consider it as a date then you need to clarify that with them lols. just make sure they know that its not like a date a date...lols....but i would i dont know....atleast try to ask them out like as a date instead of a friend first...just tell them if they don't want to come as dates then you'll just go as friends...does that make sense?

...I'd expect to go as friends? Perfectly normal to dance w/ guys as friends. unless you have feelings for him and he does for you, then there really isn't anything wrong.
*sigh* people should know that a guy and a girl CAN stay just friends. |

Uhhh, as friends? If you expect to start dating the guy, do NOT ask to go as FRIENDS. That's like the worst thing that you can do, I guess. If you ask them to the sadie as a friend, that's all they're going to think.. they won't get the impression that you guys like them, and want to date them. Riiiight? I dunno, this is my impression

I agree with death.by.knife, if you ask them as friends, they will rule you out of the dateable-material category.
What I'd do is ask them to the dance, not as friends, but when you ask them, try to have you and your friend ask at the same time, and try to find a time when both of the guys are together. That way, it isn't so intimate and they will be more likely to say yes; and, at the same time, they won't think of you as just a friend, either. |
