I personally don't like the whole "Will you go out with me" approach. I find it to be very juvenile. My boyfriend asked me out by just telling me how he felt about me and we went from there. The question is often unneccesary in most sitatuions and it's better if you have a mutual understanding about your relationship and where it is going.

Hey, little girl
I wanna be your boyfriend
Sweet little girl
I wanna be your boyfriend
Do you love me babe?
What do you say?
Do you love me babe?
What can I say?
Because I wanna be your boyfriend

Yeah?! The Ramones! What?

ohhh that's a toughy...I prefer neither really...but I've never been in a relationship so I Really don't know. I think it woudl be nicer if it was kinda mutual thing becoming someones girlfriend/boyfriend..like instead of asking you kiss and then it's kinda obvious. I'm not saying you kiss instead of asking it's just you develope teh relationship and then you don't have to ask. Then once you are already in a relationship you can ask em out. Sept for me I'd HATE to be asked out, it's like my worst nightmare...I don't want my mom to know I'm dating! ermm.gif but if I said that then it woudl seem like I'm rejecting him. grrr. anyhow, good thing I don't have a bf hehe.gif

It's been years - but I'd have to go with "will you be my girlfriend" if I were to choose any of those. I remember the first time a guy asked me, "Will you go out with me?" I was such doofus. I asked, "where to?" And I was completely serious. pinch.gif Subsequently, I didn't date much in high school. ermm.gif

I think i'd prefer girlfriend if he MEANT girlfriend. It just makes it so much easier and specific. That way I don't need to worry about if he meant it as a "girlfriend" type thing.

^Not in my opinion. If someone chose that approach towards me, they'll get a nice, flat-out "no"

To people in my area, these two are pretty darn synonymous, but I personally prefer the first one.

I would ask with "Will you be my girlfriend" because it gets to the point. If "Will you go out to me", for me, I think it could means go be just going out as a friend, or going on a date only ONCE.

same.

I really don't like being asked either but "will you go out with me" is better cause it gives me more time to decide wether I actually do want to be his girlfriend...also I think that to become ones girlfriend you shouldn't have to be asked, it should just happen when you get to know each other really well and you both like each other.

EDIT

oh wow, I already responded to this on exactly the same page. nice one leslie.

I would rather have someone ask "Would you like to be my girlfriend?"

although if he just wants to go out to a movie
then the other would be fine.
