i need help installing an mb forum. im having problems with mysql, considering i know nothing about it.

there is something wriong w/ the mySQL account.. u could ask ur web host for help, or even have them do it for you..

You have to fill in the correct info in config.php with your database name, user, password, and server.

i thought i did...
crap. i was supposed to make the database before uploading the files. does it make a difference? |

yes. go into cpanel and create a new database and then put that in the config.php.
