Post people who are very much worth remembering, but are pretty much unknown. People who are worthy of credit, but are pretty much ignored.

Nikola Tesla

This guy is one of my personal heroes. He has contributed so much to electrical engineering. Unfortunately, Thomas Edison tried his best to discredit Tesla, and now no one really cares about him. Read about him here

Chiune Sugihara

He saved thousands of Jews during the holocaust. However, he's not remembered as often as Oskar Schindler. Read about him here

Oh, no. I am SO afraid now! A little thirteen-year-old girl threatening to get angry and do what? Chew me out, online. Seriously now. You think I really care about your feelings?

Bite me.

Stetson Kennedy. He was instrumental in putting the brakes on the Ku Klux Klan's post-World War II recruitment drive. If you've never read about this guy, you should—his story is great. He infiltrated the KKK and then passed information to the writers of the Superman radio show, who revealed all the secrets of the KKK on the air, which led to a dramatic drop in KKK recruitment.

(And yes, he's also directly related to the guy who created the Stetson hat.)

Jef Raskin. He was a human interface expert and pioneer. By starting up Apple's Macintosh project, he helped refine and spread the graphical user interface, and thus brought computing to the masses. But not many people have heard of him. Unfortunately, he died last year of pancreatic cancer.
