I saw them in the magazine before I listened to them. Because the teen magazines pretty consistantly focus on pretty crap music, I didn't expect much from them. Thus, they were better than I expected, but still not my thing.

Panic! At the Disco was better than I expected, actually. I dion't think they're great, but I can't stand Fall OUt Boy or most anyone they're compared to, so that was actually better for me.

^I have to admit, that one Panic! at the disco song, "lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off" is the catchiest thing I have heard in a loooong time.

Mmm, well, We Are Scientists are delightful nonetheless. And they've been popular amoung the indie crowd since, well, they were still indie.
The Blood Brothers have their moments. They're good, but Only so much at a time.
The Decemberists recently signed to Atlantic(? ...some mainstream label) recently too.

Aww Nicki, I looove Sleater-Kinney. I used to be obsessed with All Hands On The Bad One and The Hot Rock, they also put on a killer show. I don't know how I feel about about their last two releases, One Beat and The Woods. One Beat has some good, catchy songs, but nothing as good as their previous albums. Meh.

I gave The Hot Rocks a listen, and I must say, I quite like them.

I used to have the whole Bloc Party album, but it mostly sounds the same, and I'm really not that fond of that as it is, so I now have only 2 songs from it left on it on my iPod. That isn't one of them.

i just finished listening to múm's "finally we are no one" and do make say think's (another one of the broken social scene bands) "& yet & yet," and i'd reccommend both if you're into ambient instrumental music.
