Cynicality Options

Written on a particularly cynical day, I suppose... in Journalism.

What's wrong with the world today?
Why isn't it necessary to understand what you say?
How come so many labels are given and received?
Where is reality? Have we all been deceived?

Nobody practices the morals they preach
We're turning from wisdom we wouldn't have reached
We're angry and sad and we don't know why
We hurt, we offend, we make people cry

The land, once pure, is filled with our trash
People hurt others for paper, for cash
We all live for ourselves these days,
It seems we've evolved into our sad ways

Can we ever change? Become our ideals?
As people are right now, that is vastly unreal
What it would take is some mass realization...
A gigantic upheaval of our corrupt civilization
