Kanye West
What more can I say? He gained all his fame not only from Rapping, but importantly, producing as well. Some artists he produced for was John Legend & Common. His beats are a classic for sure. I think he is a big influence to all the producers out there in the game. He sure might deserve it.

Dr.Dre
Dr.Dre is one of the most successful, and well-known producers of hip-hop. He produced for many multi-platinum artists in Interscope Records, such as Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game, & of course himself. He is also my nominee. He will be producing Snoop's new/next album, The Blue Carpet Treatment which will be released later in 2006.

Swizz Beatz
Dont argue. His beats are most definetely ill. He made Cassidy's new album "I'm A Hustla" a crazy album. He is also of course best known for producing tracks for the Ruff Ryders record label. "Like That" By Bleek was a fire beat. Can't forget "Whuteva" by Remy Martin. He has produced music tracks for rappers such as DMX, Jadakiss, & Eve. He might be the one.

Jazze Pha
JAZZE PHIZZLE PRODUCTIZZLE!!! He is a dope southern producer for many artists including Nelly, Lil Wayne, Trick Daddy, T.I., Ciara, and Luda. He is much credited for bringing the R&B superstar, Ciara full attention with her album that was released in 2005, Goodies. His beats make me shake.

So who do you think? rolleyes.gif

Isn't it ironic that Put Ya Lighters Up sounds an awful lot like Welcome to Jamrock?

Again, fcuk Scott Storch.

What many people don't understand about hiphop production is that nearly everything is a sample; from vocals from a soul song to a simple snare. And if you can use those samples in a creative and musical manner, then more power to you.

Gone, Celebration and We Major have to be some of the most unique songs I've ever heard.

Kanye 2 Da.

Duh. But it shows his ability to make something old new again. Like Brandon said, hip-hop is based on samples. Take the "first ever hip-hop hit," "Rapper's Delight." It was built on Chic's "Good Times."

---

My producer of the year nods go to Kanye and the Neptunes, specifically Pharrell.

Pharrell rarely makes any beat by himself. But his sex appeal and celebrity overshadows Chad Hugo all the time. Never met Lil Skateboard P but I met Chad; he's a real laid back guy, and humble too.

^ I see what you mean. Like, if Pharrell would've hyped the Hugo-produced Kenna debut, a lot of people wouldn't've slept on it like they did. That's cool that you got to meet Chad.

arent you a producer/dj? then you should know the majority of hip hop songs are off samples. through the wire of course samples chaka khan's through the fire, golddigger samples ray charles's i got a woman, and diamonds sample shirley bassey

i think 11 songs off late registration use samples, and remember a sample doesnt have to be a vocal sample you can have drum samples or guitar or etc

scott storch is not a biter, at least not to an extent where the majority of his beats closely resemble another. i think kanye is more of a biter than scott, he uses the sme drum pattern for lots of his beats

i think kanye and pharrell are the most knowledgable in music, instead of fiddling until they find something nice, they actually know music .. especially pharrell .. but scott storch knows what sells and he produced more hit records than any of the aforementioned producers
