Ice Cube- Death Certificate
Ice Cube- Amerikkkaz Most Wanted Both released in the same year, they might as well been one double cd because they btoh had the same feel to them. Hiphop fans, stans and groupies nowadays fail to understand how clever of a lyricist Ice Cube was. AND a lot of people sleep on his political awareness. 2Pac- Strictly For My N.I.G.G.A.Z. A few reasons why 2pac is considered to be overrated; the recent industry flood of his vocals over garbage beats so Suge Knight can eat another 10 million, the media-hype of a beef that was more of a personal issue than a hiphop controversy and his untimely death. If Pac's music were to cease at this album, he would have been remembered differntly. As of recent years, his poetry and life's philosophy is gaining national recognition and respect, but overall he's remembered as 'the first rapper to get killed,' and thats not the case at all. Hiphop is hiphop, so there is going to be a party element (as displayed smoothly by the legendary Digital UNderground production), but this album is perfectly balanced with fun and insight. Method Man- Tical If you aren't aware of this man's flow then you need to be enlightened. The Wu owned 93-97 when it came to grimey New York hiphop. Ghostface Killah's didn't become polished until he stopped hustling, Raekwon spits truth and his verse on 'Can It All Be So Simple' was on point, but while GZA's Liquid Swords gained a cult following, Tical got slept on. Wake up. 'Meth Vs. Chef' is a perfect display of his remarkable flow. The song was a freestyle battle between Meth and Raekwon but Method Man's rhythm in his verese was something that very rappers can step up to. De La Soul- Stakes Is High Can we say; real life? There is nothing negative I can say about this album. Plug 1 and Dove spoke on everday issues and issues facing the black community without sounding preachy. It was like hearing the news from someone living the life rather than a reporter. Not to mention with cameos from Common and Mos Def, it doesn't take a genius to understand the gravity of this record. Not only is this album slept on, but the entire group is. Add your picks. Discuss

eeek!, don't hurt me. wow i thought i was. but kanye's new album late registration. the best songs off it have been downplayed and drowned out by the heard 'em say cuz it has a rock star in it. woohoo. crack music, defintely the hottest track off that album, but my way home comes in a close second.

Nas - It Was Written
Illmatic, Nas's first album was recognized as a classic. Nas's third and fourth albums 'I Am" and "Nastradamus" were considered.. well basically wack. Stillmatic was another classic/near classic, and somewhere in between there Nas's second album "It Was Written" was lost. This album was, in my opinion, even better than Illmatic. Lyrically and creatively. De La Soul - Buhloone Mindstate For the younger generation such as myself, you probably have never heard of this album. Of course you heard of Three Feet High and Rising, Stakes is High, AOI Bionix, De La Soul is Dead, and The Grind Date. Three Feet High and Rising was a certified classic album. As was Stakes is High. This is another case of a great album being overshadowed by two classic albums. It got a 4 Mic rating in the Source, and also two popular singles, but still got overshadowed by other great albums. The Beatnuts - Stone Crazy Beatnuts. What do you think when you first hear The Beatnuts? Intoxicated Demons? The self titled album? Take it or Squeeze it? I think Stone Crazy had the best production out of all of their albums, very advanced for their time. Off The Books was the craziest track, it is still relevant today. Definately check this out. ¿ ya DIG ? |

Kurupt - Against The Grain
Come on, DPG has skills, why you think Pac named him Young Gotti? Yeah, he has the skills. A hookup with Deathrow, provided him some tight beats. Plus, theres a song that I really like, which features Eastwood and 2Pac. Look, this is actually a song that 2Pac would probably do if he was alive. Why? Because god damn it, at least 2Pac knew who Kurupt is, not some f**king G-UNIT AND 50 CENT WACK RAPPERS. i'll put up more later |
