Many people on this site seemed to be defined by whats in their signature or avatar. Furthermore, its as though the person in a user's av/sig can be directly associated with the user.

EX. 1

I have no clue what KC looks like. But when I watch the Boondocks, he comes to mind. Why? Because of his av/sig.

EX. 2

I'm not (somewhat) a fan of Joe Budden. And everytime I see the cover to Mood Muzik, Ding comes to mind *ding*

How important do you guys think it is?

Discuss.

hmm i'd have to say...the first thing that comes to the person's mind when they see your ava/sig has them decide on what they relate you to...

well, it's important in a way, cause thats how i tend to recognize people on the boards, by seeing the familiar avatar/sig of theirs. and yeah it does give insight on the person in some way or form i think.

Thats just it. I thought you were a chick. Especially since girls are claiming to be guys and guys are claiming to be girls (based on gender sign).

I don't have avatar and sig viewing enabled, so I never see anyone else's avatar or signature.

I also change my avatar every once in a while so don't get used to it. In fact, I'll change it again.

Apparently pretty important.. I had an avatar featuring Ayaka Komatsu for almost five months. Until I posted my photos in mod introductions everyone thought I was Asian.

I try to look at the symbol by people's usernames (if available) to see what their gender is.

It's true though.

Like, I remember certain people on the boards who never post their picture, but their avatar and sig has some sort of cartoon/celebrity in there, and when I see this.. "thing", they come to mind.
Er.. you know what I mean.

Like reili for example. Her avatar and sig is from chobits, and now everytime i read or watch chobits i think of her. haha.
edit:// well it was. i just now saw that she changed it rolleyes.gif

oooh, and remember how everyone thought jordan was a girl? part of it was because of his (old) avatar and sig.

It is a little important. Usually, it does kind of reflect who they are.

mellow.gif I think people would consider me an anime freak, then. I'm not. x] Nothing wrong with anime, though. I throb.gif Spirited Away.

Anyway, I guess it does effect the way you think about a person.

Gender sign.... I switched mine because the pink annoyed me. Importance oof the avatar and signature.... Fairly high. It shows what you like and your personality, even if it's all text.
And it's not Chobits anymore. It's.... Um.... Doujinshi art. Yeah.

I thinks its cool when you have a scheme where your avatar and your sig matches. Just me.

But yeah, certain things remind me of certain people from CB, kind of like you and Kanye, or Steven and Joe Budden.

i think the whole av/sig thing is really important. for example, i noticed that if someone has an actual picure of themselves they are so much more recognizable and i read what they have to say. and when someone has a really nice sig/av you tend to think of them more positvely. it's kinda weird... pinch.gif

Uh-huh. Sure you did Cassie.

It's weird how I don't do that. I kinda recognize them, but... -shrug- It's more of the post style that reminds me of who they are.

I don't really like the idea that I'm remembered not for my actions but by just a jumble of text and images that is attatched to all of my posts. That may be just me, but it explains why I've done away with my avatar and sig; I only use my sig to link my writing, occasionally.

I think you pay closer attention to people with their pictures in their avatars for a different reason. tongue.gif

I do look more favorably on someone with a nicely-designed avatar, though.

It's a means of self-expression so I guess it's pretty important. I just turned on avatars and signatures yesterday and I'm starting to recognize people by their avs/sigs. Before I turned them off, situations in real life would remind me of cB members and their avs/sigs. You're not alone. tongue.gif

It's true, cause whenever I see certain sigs/av's I think of certain people. It's easier to relate people to pictures than to names.

If I'm looking for a certain post, I look at the sigs/avs to find it quicker. And yeah, I also recognize people by it.

...I need a new sig, haha.
