2004's ALBUM OF THE YEAR - http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...=44509&hl=album

basick gave me the OK to make this years thread. haha
so last year, i picked De La Soul's "The Grind Date"
goddamn i loved that album

this year... hmm.. let me brainstorm

Common - Be
Kanye West - Late Registration
Trey Songz - I Gotta Make It
Keyshia Cole - The Way It Is
Danger Doom - The Mouse and the Mask
Coldplay - X and Y
Atmosphere - You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having
Little Brother - The Minstrel Show
Wordsworth - Mirror Music
Blackalicious - The Craft

.. all GREAT albums!!

so............................ the album of the year... goes to.......

Little Brother -
The Minstrel Show

was it the best lyrically? no. was it the best musically? no. (but how the f**k does 9th wonder do that shit on fruityloops).. it was just the whole vibe to the album, from the comedic tracks like Cheating (percy miricles!!), to the female songs like not enough,
and then songs like lovin it and hiding place... oh my god!!!

it was so soulful and put together.. great album!!! PROPS to 9th wonder big pooh and phonte.. IF YOU HAVENT HEARD IT GO COP IT!!!!! NOT DOWNLOAD.. BUY IT!! and yes i do think its better than the listneing!!

runner up: Keyshia Cole - The Way It Is
runner runner up: Common - Be
honorable mention: Trey Sonz - I Gotta Make It

what do you guys think was the best album?

I see you, KC.

I think that K.C.'s(lol) album was the best. I love her voice and her songs.

And Mariah Carey's.

ROFL

5. 50 cent - The Masscre

Don't bash me, but when I work out and lift weights, I need something to get me motivated and pumped.

Rating: 4/5
Favorite Track : Im Supposed To Die Tonight

4. Common - Be

While not something you would turn your bass up to, Common most defintely gives off a positive vibe throughout the album.

Rating: 5/5
Favorite Track: Go ft. John Mayer, Kanye West

3. Kanye West - Late Registration

This is without a doubt his year, so why not give him a high rank on the list. He has everything from a party track all the way down to something mellow and relaxing.

Rating: 5/5
Favorite Track: Gold Digger ft. Jamie Foxx

2. Mariah Carey - Emancipation of MiMi

Some good tracks on this album. Yep Mariah's still got it.

Rating: 4/5
Favortie Track: We Belong Together <-- Hey im a sucker for the first singles

1. Jamie Foxx - Unpredictable

Okay I just got this CD, and I can't keep it out of my tape deck. Jamie has all kind of vocal range. He is about as close as it comes to Luther Vandross vocally. Not only can this man sing, but he can play the piano as well and the song he composed is a masterful piece. Overall I'm impressed with the album.

Rating: 5/5
Favorite Track: Can I take you Home, Wish You Were Here

Spoon - Gimme Fiction (amazing album) or possibly "Silent Alarm" by Bloc Party.

Spoon wins in my opinion _smile.gif

Spoon is good, but I'm disinclined to call it the best album of the year, but maybe that's just because I thought "Girls Can Tell" was a much better album than "Gimme Fiction"? Ia bit over Spoon at the moment anyway. But then, Bloc Party gets on my nerves as well, but it's gotten great reviews.

I've been on a bit of a Spoon kick recently, so Gimme Fiction is on the top of my list. I rather liked the Sufjan Stevens album, but I can't really get the hype around him right now. At the beginning of the year, I hated Bloc Party, but their album sort of grew on me and now its one of my top played albums.

Gah, I'm forgetting all about "Twin Cinema" by the new porngraphers as well.

Bloc Party grew, err, off me. I've progressively taken away songs off their album from my ipod, because I just can't listen anymore. Spoon is actually right on that edge too, but I know they'll come back in favor so I won't remove them.

The New Pornographers are actually my number one, definately. I got the album leaked about 3 months before it was released and immediately fell in love. Fantastic, and underappreciated. It's not just a pop album, it's amazing.

^ Hah, and to think I was one of those people who actually went out and GOT the album whistling.gif.
I think that "Twin Cinema" is the best, just looking over the variety of songs they had on that album. It kind of blew me away with the first listen. It's power pop at its finest.

Female - Fiona Apple "Extraordinary Machine" It's an amazing piece of work. The cd isn't something you'd necessarily put on repeat, but the composition of the music combined with her lyrics truly makes for an extraordinary album.

Male - I'll go for a band - NIN. Trent Reznor is in top form.
