Ever since I got a subdomain I've used Coffeeup FTP. Recently though, Whenever I tried to connect to my sub-domain it wouldn't connect. The loading window pops up and just drags on forever. The green bar will fill up, restart, and fill up again until I stop it. Normally it took like 3 seconds and now I waited 30 minutes and nothing happened. Well, I gave up on trying to get it to work after I tried numerous things to fix the problem. I tried changing settings, re-downloading the program, and I even waited a couple of days to see if the problem would just go away.

Well now I'm Fed up with CoffeeCup and I now need some neew ideas for a new FTP program. Can you give me any suggestions?

- smartFTP
- cuteftp
-ws ftp

and for your problem sometimes you just need to redownload the program . That happened to me before w/ another program.

I've never had a problem with CoffeeCup, I used it for a long time. Then I got tired of opening programs and used IE *shudder* instead.

Honestly though, as far as free software goes, I much prefer CoffeeCup over anything else I've tried. Try using Internet Explorer though, it's easier in a lot of ways.

I'm a big fan of WS_FTP LE on Windows, although it's not available as a free product anymore.

I used to use SmartFTP... But after about 200 days, it started getting mad at me and yelling at me about how it was not a free program, and I tried yelling back at it, but eventually, it won.

So now i use LeechFTP, which is a completely free program that hasn't yelled at me yet. It is lacking in a few features though, such as remembering your login information, but I see that as a bonus. That way, if anyone goes on to your computer, they can't just open it and mess with your files and whatnot.
Yay!

If you happen to have OS X, Transmit is probably the best FTP client I have ever used.

I use FTP through internet explorer (ftp://domain.com)... it's really easy. You could also use Windows Command Prompt (harder and a bit confusing).

For program, I would recommend SmartFTP.

That, and the poster was asking about FTP clients, not FTP servers.
