my mom gets this stuff from a mary kay like company, called Beauti control, it works really well. You can dry out your lips overnight and then put condtioner on it and it will stay till you eat or something. Or just use the lip conditioner, it works really well biggrin.gif

Drink lots of water. Or like Jenny said, lick your lips every now and then

Um, you're not supposed to lick your lips. Saliva actually dries your lips and make the problem worse.

Overapplying chapstick makes the natural oils that your lips produce stop. But for quick fixes, I use a little bit of Vaseline - but not the chapstick Vaseline, just plain Petroleum Jelly.

Finally, someone said something intelligent! =]

Stop makin up facts ya'll.

[Ps, I have burt bees; it rocks my damn socks! Also Carmex worked well for me as well, just don't apply it every second!]

Bath and Body Works has some really amazingly great mint clip gloss- oh hey, now I know what to get my friend for her birthday!! It's $7, which is why I hadn't bought any yet, but it's great stuff

That's widely believed, but it's not been proven, actually. It's best classified as an "urban myth". Chapstick is definitely pyschologically addictive, but it's not known for sure if it has physiological effects--it most likely does not. A Chapstick user can certainly develop a psychological addiction, however.

I think the moisture types work.

Maybe you should go see your doctor if the problem persists.
I'm not sure if it's normal to have chapped lips that long [mine usually goes away within three - four weeks or so], but try applying a good brand of chapstick daily, and be sure to drink a lot of water, too.

I'm addicted to Chapstick (Which was mentioned somewhere up there ^), but only when I have it. I mean, I apply it in layers every 15 minutes when I have chapped lips, and they're gone overnight. Also, apply a layer of honey to your lips, then go to sleep; your chapped lips should be gone by morning.

Your best bet though, I'd say, is drinking lots and lots of water (Buy a huge case of water bottles.) and apply Chapstick (Or Carmex; I find that works better.) constantly.

Drink a lot of water, apply chapstick every few hours, and DO NOT LICK YOUR LIPS! Lip-licking is bad for your lips! Something in saliva dries them up.

Neosporin Lip Treatment [try a diff. brand] & drink water.

Do you also tend to lick your lips? That'll just hurt it worse.

effective (usually) fix: overnight take vaseline, a lot of it, and apply it to your lips. try to lay on your back cause you dont want to roll over and get it all over your bed. apply a few layers, and when you wake up, your lips should be soft. apply then burts bees lip balm. drink atleast 4 glasses of water that day, and apply more lip balm every 1-2 hours, depending on the feel of your lips. do this for maybe a week and then you should only need to apply the lip balm once or twice a day. also, exfoliate your lips with a toothbrush before applying lipbalm

i dont know about the breathing your nose part, but lickign your lips is one of the worse things you can do. go out to walgreens and get burts bees wax lip balm. its like 3 dollars. i use to have bad chaplips to. you know why, cause i licked my lips cause i thoguht it helps. it makes it worse

drink a lot of water and don't lick your lips a lot. OH, and watch out for some lip glosses they will make your lips peel. The really heavy thick one like loreal color juice. Look great but my lips peel. If you want something other than chapstick try sally hansens diamond lip treatment. Its lip gloss but its got moisturisers for your lips. I love it.
