Ok, so we all know [most of us] that 50 cent and his 'troop', 'gang' whatever dont get along with jadakiss and fat joe and all them. yes they got some hateful tracks out. but this isnt about discussing about their problems.

To get to the point 50 cent and the whole rest of g-unit has a lot of songs out. 'a-lot!' so what are your favorites from them?.

My response;
I just saw the Get Rich or Die Tryin` movie, it was ok, i guess [?]. and i really liked the song "i`ll woop `ya head boy".. haha.. my husband was singing along and everything. Also "window shopper" and "best friend" those are hot.
I also like the remix to U Already Know, by 112, except its by Olivia and Tony yayo. yeah. if you guys want the link to that song its pretty tight. just hit me up..yeah and those are my favorite!

mods; i searched this type of topic and found none. do your thing!

I hate 50 & The Game. They are fake and most of their songs like .. kill the name of rap. I just seriously do not like them. The game DO got some good shit though, i have to admit that. But I cant think of any right now, all i remember he has 2 or 3 good tracks.

The 50 Cent the world knows and hates is far from the 50 Cent that posesses lyrical talent. As for The Game; The Documentary was written almost entirely by 50 Cent, and it was written with intention of selling records. If 50 goes back to the way he was when he released 'The Power of the Dollar' and 'Guess Who's Back,' then everyone from New York to LA will give him the street cred of Ghostface Killah. And Game is ill. I don't like his voice at all, but I have to give him props on 300 bars.

Without Pun writing his rhymes, and since he and Cuban Linx are beefin', Joe's rhymes are lackluster and commercial. As for Jada, he's the King of New York with no financial influence. Diddy owns him and 50 is blackballing him. In five years, he'll be the king that was; or the king that could've been....

Lyrically, my favorite NY artists aren't even relevant to the conversation. I guess I should be walking around with a backpack because I'm still uppin' Mos Def and Talib. But since we're talking about 'gangsta' grit rappers, I'm going to give the crown to Saigon. 'The Greatest Story Never Told' is going to be the best album never to be released, next Cormega's.

anqie: Do you even know who John Gotti (not the knucklehead grandson, but the last known mafiadon) is? Do you know the type of shit he did before he died and the Gottis lost all influence in organized crime? He was the king of NY back when he had his men castrate adversaries and mail testicles back to other mafiadons to send a message of sheer intimidation. Growing Up Gotti is a joke, because the Gotti name isn't respected the way it was before.

SAIGON..... period.

jadakiss is HORRIBLE
50's best days are behind him and they weren't that great in tha first flace. i don't care for gangsta rap becuz its so lacking compared to underground. it just sounds like less effort was put into it.
btw what relevance does gotti have to this convo? i thought we were talking about rap.

The Inc. Gottis are Chris and Irv. Their real last name is Lorenzo. They're just obsessed with that gangster imagery. Too bad the hit songs on their label are all lovey-dovey, wack ass rap love songs.

If I was getting raped by Diddy, I wouldn't have any motivation to be great either.

Back to the topic, if I had to pick a favorite 50 Cent/G-Unit song, it would be "Let Me In" by Young Buck. "So Seductive" by Yayo is a close second. If those songs didn't have decent beats, they'd be garbage.

The underground? Dude, put the backpack down. Real life is gangsta. Hiphop that depicts whats going on in the world is gangsta.

Jadakiss, horrible? Whoa, brush up on your D Block knowledge and cop yourself some mixtapes.

50 is a genius. He even said himself that he's not making music. He's selling records. Love him or hate him, he's a savvy mafucka.

Gotti's relevance to this entire conversation; nothing. Although every studio gangsta feels the need to adopt the mobster mentality, rap about organized crime and act as if they're really running things. The irony of the Murder INC trial (even though they were found innocent), those idiots were puppets for a real crime boss.

Jason...
The Game isn't commercial enough to sell records on his own. If he's true to himself and his music, he'll barely go gold. If he lets someone like 50 manipulate him for the media, he'll go platinum. But if he holds onto a beef with one of the biggest names in hiphop (thats yesterday's news), he might be able to hold on and continue to live the high life.

Saigon.

jus cauz there"real" gives them the excuse to put out totally generic lyrics? All these gangsta rappers sound the same, besides adding their own "flair" on their music. o and on jadakiss, hes never been better than average lyrically and never tell me 50 s a genius. u guys really think hes an entrepaneur? All that crap hes doin is the corporate execs milkin him for his name. gangsta rap btw is very small-scale. saying it depicts whats going on in the world is entirely wrong. It depicts whats goin on in ur hood.nothin more nothin less.

vash1530 - jadakiss is not horrible. do you even listne to jadakiss? if you do, i dont know how you can say jada is not even above average lyrically? listen to ninety percent of the radio and then listen to jada. at least he has some lyrical content and is not completely irrelevant. even the game is "above average" lyrically. way to set the bar up high

my favorite 50 cent / gunit song? i think 50 cent is a great businessman, knows how to market himself, knows how to make money. also if you look at his beats, sure they are fire, but i give the man props for making a catchy hook out of some of these beats. its not that simple to make a catchy hook, ask talib kweli or copywrite, two lyrically gifted artists bordering on commercial success

i disagree. the game has a big enough fanbase, just look at the gunot campaign. with big name producers and if he keeps on making the music he is making, i see him going platinum. 50 cent may have helped him, but the game has marketbility

that's so broad that i can't really answer it. I ll tell u that rock is much more popular on a global basis tho hip hop is gaining popularity. U also have to remember that gangsta rap is just one genre inside of hiphop

What if G-Unit falls off. What is G-Unot going to do? Who are they going to hate on? What's their gimmick going to be?

As for DipSet...

I like Juelz. I think he's overrated and overhyped, but WTGBM is nice. Personally, I think Hell Rell and Bezel are better lyricists, but Juelz is young and marketable. He's only a few years older than most of us on here.

SOONER OR LATER, YOU MAFUCKAS WILL STOP FRONTIN' ON SAIGON

oh and Dipset, ehh ok. too much purple but hey, i can try to live with the word "aye" for a little longer.. haha.. yeah.
