Of course it's wrong...how can 14-year old girls get pregnant without a sex license?

I don't think underage sex is wrong, just so as long as you know what you are getting yourself into. All you have to do is make a choice. A simple choice.

Both parties should consent to it and use protection. (In ANY sexual situation, IMO.) Birth control should always be used unless you are trying to procreate. If you choose not to use protection, you will face the consequences.

according to sXe [straightedge], you have to be married or in a serious relationship to have premarital sex.

rofl thats like straight from everwood ... "she wont have premarital sex until we're married" ahahah....

anyways , i have premarital sex and i was way under 18 when i lost my virginity, but because i did not value sex as this one time special momment where u share it with ur one and only , i was not dissapointed or sad it wasnt to someone im not with now. if u ask what my views are on sex then ill tell u but this isnt the topic so of course , you need to know ur values and yourself b4 u hop into the sheets with someone, you need to be mature and ready, and you should always use protection. if your able to make babies your ready to have sex, but can you handle it? thats a different story. i say people shouldnt have sex under the age of 16 , why? its pretty obvious. but premarital sex i am for, other wise ide be a hypocrite

This debate is absolutely ridiculous.

Who is to decide whats right and wrong? Religion? The moral fabric of society?

This makes no sense when you really think about it. If it were socially acceptable to practice polygamy and allow grown men to have sex with 12 year old girls, would this debate still be the same?

Is this really a debate at all?

Yes there are consequences to sex, but just like anything, if you do something the wrong way there is going to be a price to pay.

So what if two 16 year olds have safe sex if they're well informed and mature about the manner? How is that any bearing on what kind of people they are?

"OMG UNDERAGE SEX IZ WRONG BECUZ I DUN WANNA GO TO HELL!"

Give me a fcuking break, kids.

no, i don't think so. but really it depends on the person because some people become sexually mature at different ages. but i know that i don't want to have sex before i hit 17 unless i'm with a guy for a long time whom im love and trust completely.

I dunno, I mean in the old days girls were getting married when they were like 12. My only problem regarding sex is whether it's premarital. It's not my place to judge those who have had it, and I know plenty that have, but it's just not what I believe is right.

The institution of marriage is becoming more and more a joke with 60% of marriages ending in divorce. In today's society, marriage no longer defines love; its a crutch for health benefits, a shared income, pleasing the in-laws, raising a child in order to provide the necessary support system, etc.

Again, I'm not sure where the real argument lay. A lot of people are saying that udnerage sex is wrong, but no one is stating why. The only argument against would be the religious approach, and I assure all of you, there are master debators in this forum that will chew your food if your bring that plate to the table.

dont you mean its considered statutory rape to have sex with someone under 18?

because by your definition, it would be okay for someone over 17 to have sex with someone under 18? blink.gif

Brandon is 100% right. This is barely a debate. It is more like a discussion of religious beliefs.

i think sometimes it is, and then it isnt.
i mean, if your able to accept the fact that if something goes wrong and you will be able to handle a teenage pregnancy, well sure go ahead
you just have to have the right mind set, and know that what your doing, is the right choice for you. not for anybody else.
it just depends on the person,
and having sex at an early age doesn't make you wrong
and people don't judge them because of that.. well here they dont.. and people shouldn't because i really dont think it should have any bearing on peoples opinions of others,
as long as the ones involved understand the seriousness of there own actions.

I think it's really all up to the situation. Some religions require that marriage and sex be earlier in life, and that's fine with me. If it's what they believe in, and what works for them, go ahead.
Otherwise, in cultures like the United States where there are over 100,000 abortions per day from teens, you'd think that for the people who made the choice to have sex underage, they didn't think about it before hand. I'd have to say it is wrong. To make a choice to have sex is a choice that changes your life. The outcome to underage sex could lead to a loss of respect, a child, an STD, anything, really. Teens aren't old enough to make the decision to have sex, yet. They're way too influenced by the media which isn't making too good of an impression, dare I say. But, it's all up to the person. If someone feels like they're ready, go ahead. They just better be ready for the consequences.

I say wait until in colllege or out. High school sex is just too early. Middle School sex = disgusting. You have to make sure you have the responsiblity to take care of the consequences given if you have sex and something goes wrong (AIDS, unwanted pregnancy, etc)

I agree. The age is getting younger every day. I even read an article about a 13 year old prostitute in my cosmoGIRL magazine today. It just amazes me with how young people are having sex now. Sex should be one of those things where you save it for that one person. Now it's like a necessity when the kissing gets boring.

Yes, I agree, more and more teenagers and even preteens are making the wrong decision about sex. I think it may be due to the fact that they are not fully informed on the subject before they make that crucial choice. I know that we don't really learn about sex in depth until high school, but I think that it should be taught in middle schools as well, and more about the risk factor involved. It's scary to think about what these kids are doing to themseves, and they may not even know it.
