I don't think we should call it Turkey Day because to me it diminishes the 'meaning' of Thanksgiving. I think it should just be kept Thanksgiving so it will remind us all to be thankful. Sure we shouldn't have a specific day to be mindful of our blessings but sadly, we need it. Just like we need Valentines day, a day to tell those we love, we love them.

Lorena eats mexican food like a real mexican should! too bad I eat ham..

Agreed with Chrissy. Turkey day loses the setimental value in it's name. We sometimes forget what each holiday really means.

The day where most people eat turkey. Turkey Day.

Nope, doesn't sound ridiculous to me.

^But Thanksgiving wasn't made a national holiday just to eat turkey. It was the way to celebrate it before, and I guess tradition just carried on and people to this day still eat turkey. As Chrissy said, the real meaning of Thanksgiving loses its value if it's called Turkey Day.

I always thought it was ridiculous. Turkey day...argh. I hate how everyone calls it that, now. Mona and Chrissy explain it the best...when you change the name, the meaning gets lost.

I eat turkeys on Thanksgiving.

I don't mind when people call it turkey day, because they know its not the actual name. I don't believe when people say turkey day, it takes away from the meaning. When people say thanksgiving, the first thing they think of is turkey, anyway. If you want to give it a meaning, call it Day-the-pilgrims-and-the-native-americans-were-at-peace-and-celebrated-with-a-feast. But that would be too long.

How many of you first think of peace when someone says thanksgiving? Not I. I think of devouring a turkey, whole, filled with stuffing.

Sue me.

I don't really make a big deal about it, but shouldn't we think about what we're seriously thankful about on Thanksgiving, as opposed to what we get to eat? I mean, isn't that similar to calling Christmas "gift day"?

Turkey Day is easier to pronounce than Thanksgiving.

Call me lazy. but I go by a 43 folders set on life (I hack daily life tasks)

Do you really think calling Thanksgiving Turkey Day will diminish its meaning of giving thanks? In order for people to call it Turkey Day, the people must first recognize that Thanksgiving exists.

Yeah, but what about the future generation?

Eventually, Thanksgiving will be called Turkey Day so often that the original name will be striked out, and it'll just be called Turkey Day. Eventually the meaning would be lost, obviously we all know that's it Thanksgiving now, but our children might not.

Wow, that makes me sound like I care a lot about Thanksgiving. Honestly, though, I don't. Not that I don't think the meaning behind it has good intentions, but to set aside ONE day for being thankful is bullshit to me. Be thankful everyday; setting aside one day only makes people ungrateful for all the other ones.

and what is the point of thanksgiving? to celebrate how we killed the indians and took their land?

i dont see the point of thanksgiving at all. by calling it turkey day its just taking away any remaining significance.

no we celebrate it to GIVE THANKS TO GOD FOR DELIVERING THE PILGRIMS INTO THIS LAND SO THEY COULD HAVE CHILDREN'S CHILDREN'S CHILDREN'S etc. (thats us) AND THAT THEY HAD FOOD TO SURVIVE WHICH THEY ATE WITH THE INDIANS. sounds like those 'Indians' which are actually Native Americans were really mad at us huh?

if you hate the origin of our country so much why don't you move to France or something.
