Nick and Jessica Split

After more than a year of break-up rumors, "Newlyweds" JESSICA SIMPSON and NICK LACHEY have officially decided to call it quits, ET has confirmed.

"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," the couple said in a statement Wednesday. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."

Back in October, rumors of a split started to swirl when Jessica arrived solo (and without her wedding ring) to her sister ASHLEE's 21st birthday in Las Vegas and Nick, who was scheduled to be there, was a no-show. Nick and Jessica were also reportedly apart for two more special dates: their 3rd wedding anniversary on October 26 and Nick's 32nd birthday on November 9.

It was just this fall, while talking about her new body care collection "Sweet Kisses," Jessica spoke with ET, offering marriage advice. "I think you have to always remember, and he has to remember, that you do need a compromise, even though it's hard," she said.

She admitted though, that sometimes strong personalities can get in the way of marital negotiations. "There's people with pride involved," she says. "You have to back down sometime -- just a little bit."

The couple married in Austin, TX, in front of 350 guests in an hour-long Baptist ceremony. Jessica wore a strapless VERA WANG gown and Nick sang "My Everything," a song he wrote just for his bride.

I bet you that they will get back together, Im sorry for the true fane of these two but i think its for attention, kinna like Britney who is doing whatever just to get attention since they arent heard for a while and theyd on't want to die off.. then again I can be wrong.

Nope there was a article were it said she wanted to do it Paris style and be all like
"oh no someone toook my sex video so if anyone see's it... oh no!"
Come one no one had heard about it so why mention it? It sounded like she was encouraging people to go look for it.

You guys care about them directly, but the rest of us care about their effect on the media and society.

Which is why they should be hit by a Mac truck, like Nate said.

WHAT?! Worse than Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston? YOU MUST BE KIDDING. They were the golden couple. That was way worse.

I figured they would break up at some point. Why? Because of all the publicity they had in the first few years of marriage. That is the time when it's really important for them to get to know each other even better as a couple and learn to be married and I think it must have been hard for them to do things like that with cameras around everywhere. Not a smart idea. Still, it's sad to hear.

Yea...they split...but oh well...Barbie and Ken split up so it was bound for the real Barbie and Ken to do the same. Barbie did all the work...made all the money...had the most publicity. Ken was just not flashy enough for Barbie. She had to let him go. So Ken is making a comeback to get his woman...changed his look...maybe Nick will do the same.

In ways i've always thought that they would split, but it's kinda sad that it is really happening. I remember watching their show "newlyweds", my mom used to watch it too, and she'd always say, <"why are they married? they don't seem like they care for each other that much." So i guess she'll be happy to hear about this?

I am surprised the marriage lasted 3 years, I never understood how nick could handle jessica parents they seemed so obnoxious on the newlyweds show.. hopefully everyone can move on with their lives...
