its looked on as a sin by most major religions. Jews and muslims arent allowed to ''spill'' their ''seed'' (sorry if this is crude, but its the teaching). alota fundamental christians see it as a sin aswell, and catholics are meant to aswell.

BUT

i hate this whole debate. especially where Natural Law theories come into things - its NATURAL to masturbate. we're human. for a human not to have sexual feelings or sex itself, is unnatural. so why the hell are ''priests'' etc , who have (supposedly) never had sex, telling everyone else what to do with thier bits?
ugh. hypocrisy

if u wana do it go for it. God still loves you , and you wont go to hell.

Lust is sin......therefore Masterb.....is not a good thing. Also there are alot of scientific research on why it is not good to do it.

where does it say that?

the church and bible is full of BS (no offense) but really.

Back in midieval times, they wronged women and blamed the female race for eve's mistake...now do you think they still do that? even slave-owning was allowed in the bible (if you say "but that's in the old testament" well guess what, it'S IN THE EFFING BIBLE, BIBLE = GOD'S WORD)

basically i don't think considering masturbation a sin and therefore WRONG is well..WRONG

masturbation is okay...as long as you don't kill too many kittens

Masturbation is murder. God wants you to have sex with prostitutes instead of masturbating. It's in the bible, I swear!

lust doesn;t automatically mean being sexually attracted...you say it as if it's the same as being tempted to watch porn.

so what if you say lust as the want to become something else or mroe faithful to your church? lust is more of a want even though it usually means sexually attracted..but i don't think it EVER said lust was a sin

Thus, I tell people if they don't feel guilty about doing it, then it is not a problem. On the other hand, if they do feel guilty, then perhaps they shouldn't. The principles of Romans 14 come into play: on matters of individual conscience, if the conscience is not clear, then for that individual it is a sin.

God IS real. And about the masturbation thing, there are so many ways to look at it, it just depends. Personally, I am a Christian and I do not think it is a sin, UNLESS you're doing it because of lusting. Now a lot of people say that you can't masturbate without lusting, but I'm not so sure. You don't have to be thinking impure thoughts when you're doing it...

do you?

Don't just declare that in a public place where there are other people of different religion. How would you feel if someone else from other religions declare their god is real?

You are all fools! Zeus is the only true God! He shows his might in every lightning storm across the globe! He was here before people thought up this false christian god!

Zeus declares that masturbation is forbidden unless it is bukkake!

I really don't care if it's a sin or not, as I am not a christian. However, I will let you in on a little secret: It's good for your health. It is good for your heart and relieves stress.

"Studies have shown that masturbating can be good for your health. 95-99% of males masturbate during their lives. It can be very healthy for you because it helps cure the natural sexual drive a guy has but without the risk of pregnancy or STDs. Regular masturbation by a young man can also help prevent prostate problems in the future. Masturbation is in no way harmful and can help your sexual abilities when that time comes (you become more accustomed to your body and how it works). Don't let the myths fool you. You will not go blind, deaf, loose a limb or your hair. Masturbation is a natural healthy sexual activity that most males participate in."

I can cite about 30 more if you want me to.

The whole question revolves around the belief of religion. As a Christian masturbation IS a sin. Asking "Is masturbation a sin?" would imply that you are religious. Stating a secular answer would be confusing. I have heard the arguement that if you do not think "impure" thoughts while masturbating than it is not considered a sin. *cough* But honestly.

Since I am not religious I do not believe it is a sin. But the question itself is religious so I think it should have a religious answer...
