The options for this poll are "yes" and "no", but the poll is not a yes-or-no question.

It isn't even always about the whether they love each other or not. Everyone deals with something like sex in a different way. Suppose one partner is completely fine with the fact that they had sex and the other is a little upset in some aspects. You can see how that could lead to some tension between them.

the obvious answer is...
... it depends on the relationship and the reasons for having sex. asking thirteen year olds about this isnt really a smart idea, look at the results ffs. edit: the results reflect the truth now. whayhey |

It depends if the couple wants to focus more on the emotional part of the relationship first. But if they think they're ready to take the next step, I'd say it would strengthen.

I didn't vote, because it can do both.
Having sex is supposed to be lovemaking, but since us humans are such horny idiots, it can also be a way of degrading a relationship. For example, if people have sex just for the pleasure and not because of any emotional bonds, or if someone uses another person just for the act of sex, then the relationship will either remain the same or weaken. If a pair decides to have sex because they care for each other and want to (this sounds so corny and lame) have sex as a sort of "union" or act of love, then it will strengthen a relationship. |
