q. about .gif files, (transparency)

how come when u save .gif files, they turn out choppy on the edges if u make them transparnt? is that fixable?

GIF images can only contain, at most, 256 colors; if they contain more than that, some colors are modified so the total number used does not exceed 256, which can sometimes result in choppiness.

PNG files support both transparency and millions of colors. If you have an image with lots of colors, and you need transparency, save it as a PNG instead.

you go to file save for web and make sure you set it to be transparent.

Gradients don't work well with GIFs..

Are you using IE? IE doesn't support transparent PNG's very well.
