Where's eighteen? I think it's fine the way it is. Did you forget it or think that most people wanted the age to change hence no use in putting it in as a choice?

I didn't vote either because you forgot 'eighteen' unless you're asking us about a different age beside from 'eighteen'. I think it should stay the way it is... but I'll admit it, I wish I could vote now! I am young, but I'm so into politics.

Even if we lower the voting age it wouldn't make a difference. If you lowered it kids don't give a rip like they do now she there wouldn't be much of a percentage difference..

Why should kids under the age of 18 vote? They don't understand politics and still live mostly under their parents influence.
I remember someone saying when you're out of the house and living your own life you should be about to vote. |

no. it would be a travesty if kids under 18 vote. because the candidates would try to work on issues that affect kids so the kids would vote for them. that would bring some attention away from more important issues. imagine a candidate getting elected because he promised no homework lol.
btw, where's 18 on the poll? |

Whoa... age 13 is tooo young to vote. It's a stupid idea to lower the age limit. 13 yr olds aren't well informed enough to know about all the gov't crap. I say leave the voting age at 18, no changes.

18 is good, but there should be more incentive for people to vote. like...less taxes for voters...or $5 for each person that votes? or a pat on the back and a cookie?

QUOTE(WhiteChocolate @ May 4 2004, 9:40 PM) You know what? I think that 13 is way to freakin immature an age to determine such an important decision. No, your opinions arent fully matured, and are just gonna be their parents opinions, like Kathleen said. No, 18 is perfect. It would be stupid to lower it ![]() my parents and i differ so much on our opinions about everything it's not even funney. i wouldnt follow my parents. i would make my own path. |

It should be 17, because 17 year olds are the youngest group to have lived through four elections.

I don't even think fifteen would be a good time...there's plenty of idiotic fifteen year-olds running around. And the ones that would vote would have no idea what they're voting for.

i think age 13. we are mature enough. ps: i hate bush. Never? Lol, what kind of nutcase would pick never? This country would no longer be a democracy then.. And, no offence, but I think younger kids are just saying they hate Bush because that's what everyone else is saying right now. I think 18 is a fine age because they actually care about what's going on more than just saying "I hate Bush" to sound involved.. |

I think the age should be changed to sixteen... By the time kids are sixteen, they've been exposed to politics in high school and also most likely have gotten a job. Therefore, they should be able to make such decisions as deciding on taxes and presidents that now affect them. Besides, we have such a problem with young adults voting already that perhaps by lowering the age limit, more kids will want to get involved and perhaps our country will finally begin to speak for themselves. And then EVERYONE WILL STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT OUR PRESIDENT ![]() But that's just me. To be honest with you MOST 16 year olds dont even know how to wipe ther butt's at 16. I mean its a REALLY big responsibility choosing presidents its not something that is based on moods or surroundings. Everyone is entitled to theri opinion but i think EVERYONE should be ATLEAST 21 before voting and have a notion of what the presidents are about.... Then again thats just Me. |

I didn't vote simply because you forgot age eighteen. I think it's fine the way it is. Yes, many people are mature enough, but then again, parents have a strong influence on their children, so of course the child is going to follow in their parents' footsteps. They aren't old enough (most of the time) to truly decide. Besides, I highly doubt many of the thirteen year-olds out there would get their lazy butts out there to vote...I mean, eighteen year-olds aren't! I agree. My brother's 18 and he didn't vote (because he had the mind of a 13-year old). And I really didn't care about elections right now at my age..so meh. |
