Hmm.. I wouldn't know since the only times I went to camp was with my school. Hmm.. It could be because they don't know the real you? :shrugs:

i think i know what you mean.
at camp people are a lot more open to making as many friends as possible, probably because you only get to see them for that amount of time. they're especially like this if it's their first time at camp. if they've been there before, sure, they'll still hang out with old buds, but are open to showing newbies around. at school, on the other hand, people have friends all year round. they're comfortable with their clique, and don't want to see the effects of someone new. at camp, if they do that and it turns out bad, they can escape it within a few weeks and never have to bother with them again, if they want. at school, you have to deal with them. that's my view on it. |

I think its because at camp you're just meeting some of the people, and they don't know you.
At school, some people have known you for a while. |

I camp, and I am so much different then I am in school. I'm feel more free and relaxed and dont have to worry about homework/quizes. Also another thing I can trust them more, and not have to be so prepared. I have time to laugh, and do what I want. They get a better view of who you are by what you do for fun and you have more time I think.
I dont know.. thats just my oppinion on things. |

QUOTE(salcha @ Aug 18 2005, 6:10 PM) Because at camp, it's all fun and games..plus you don't know anyone. While at school, you form all these little cliques and stuff.. Yep. My closest friends are from camp. Plus, you get to spend a lot more time and make more memories with friends from camp. I'm guessing you treasure your camp memories a lot more than your school memories, because camp isn't as long as a schoolyear is. |

i think it's cuz... you don't have any history, so you can start completely fresh. there aren't really any grudges or anything. and... you won't have many ties afterwards, so you're more outgoing

i think its easier because at camp, its based on having fun and meeting new ppl, and at school ur mostly focused on your grades, not really a socializing thing like camp is.
but Pretty much wut everyone else said. |

In camp, you're with them constantly & it gets boring if you don't talk to anybody, so everyone just starts talking together & making friends & all that. People tend to be a little more outgoing at camps because hey, you're only going to be with them for a week or two- Might as well be friendly, & so what if you make a fool of yourself, most likely you'll never see them again. Oh, also, almost everyone's in the same boat. They don't know anybody & want to make friends, just like you.
In school, you're distracted by classes, a lot of people already know each other, you've got all the little cliques & such...and you can be stuck with them for 1-4 years. |

because at camp ur basically grouped with people, live with them for a while and when ur not bunkin together ur doing activities together....
and in school the main focus is education and the teachers are bitches and hush u when u try to talk and during breaks people go there seperate ways and when schools out people go home @_@. |

to add a bit more to what everyone said, if u go to a specific kind of camp, u get meet people who have similar intrests too. Like i went to music camp so we all had somthing in common to tlak about. plus people want to get to know everyone at camp whereas in school u basically already have a set way you are viewed.

At camp, you automatically have more in common than academics (which means no competition in that aspect either), you spend more quality time together (you can talk rather than just sit there near them), and you know less people, so you're forced to bond rather than cling to your familiar group.

If most people at camp don't already know each other, then everyone's in the same boat... 1) you all want to have a good time, and 2) nobody is going to have any kind of reputation AFTER camp... that means people are more like 'themselves' (whatever that vague term can mean :O) and everyone is able to form closer bonds in a shorter amount of time.
It sucks when everyone knows each other... cause then ppl don't care about you and just hang out wit their old buds (you gotta make yourself noticed and crap so you fit into the old gang :p) But yeah, school is just a crappy place to be in to start, so nobody's really havin much fun anyways xD |

because you start over new, no one knows you, and so everyone is a 'first impression'. and people are usually more open during summers anyways. you don't know anyone, and they don't know you, so to make friends, they socialize more.

basicallly in general for most people . its eaier to make friends in camp because they hardly know you individually while at school people contstantly see you everyday and knows who you are . so usually in camp your in a stress free environment where your able to start allover again . well thats only for some people . it really depends on the individual .
