QUOTE
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Smarter children may enjoy longer lives, the results of a new study suggest.

The study, which followed elderly adults deemed gifted by childhood IQ tests, found that the higher their early IQs were, the longer they lived -- up to a point, at least. The survival advantage began to plateau after a childhood IQ of 163, an intelligence level few people reach.

They can prevent themselves not to die because of their own fault but they couldn't prevent people who are trying to kill them.

Well I guess I can expect to live a long time.. but with all the corruption in America you can hardly walk out your front door for fear of being shot, raped, robbed, kidnapped, or a variety of other nasty outcomes.

Mozart died of young age and his IQ was quite high. Must've been his alcohol problem.

Mozart had a high IQ but he died with little dignity. Once highly respected as a child prodigy, he was buried in a pauper's grave, penniless from lavish spending and lost all respect from his fellow composers. It's no wonder he died young.

so does that mean that people with exceptionally low IQ die faster?

if it were true in all cases, then the human race might be getting smarter...

i think you guys are missing the point - or maybe i too general

i was sarcastic pointing out the "breakthrough" because i thought it was common sense to people that smarter people make smarter decisions which would allow them to live longer lol

like you got a person with IQ 35 and a person with IQ 160 standing on the edge of a cliff. a butterfly flys past them both. who is most likely to jump to catch the butterfly? lol

Interesting...
But smarter people might be more stressful as they have higher abilities to accomplish things... and stress is not good for health...
