Towering mythical giants walk the earth, and it's your job to kill them in Shadow of the Colossus, the long-awaited PlayStation 2 adventure from the team that created 2001's sublimely rendered ICO. Shadow shares a prevailing aesthetic and subtle attention to detail with ICO, but where the latter focused on the intimately protective relationship between an outcast boy and his fragile feminine charge, this new game pits you in epic combat against some of the largest foes ever to grace a television screen. The game's fighting and pacing are in stark contrast to those of typical action games, but with a little patience and a taste for high-concept adventure, you'll find an experience here that's unlike any other.

This game just came out fairly recently and my god is it phenomenal. You're a young native kid who rides around on a horse looking for colossal giants to kill in order to save some girl. (I was observing a friend of mine playing it and he doesn't much care for storyline... so I didn't get much.) There's really no other way to describe it other than the biggest form of "huge" you can think of.

Gameplay itself is incredibly fun. You start off in the temple where the girl is laying. You have a sword that can reflect light into a beam that detects the actual Colossi themselves. (Don't understand how, skipped right over that part... sad.gif) Once you travel the beautiful landscape to find the Colossus, you then have to find a way on top of it. Upon reaching the top, your sword will detect a "weak" spot on the Colossus that you attack. Every battle is epic and will leave you in awe when you defeat the monster.

Admitted, you do have to have some deal of patience to play the game because like everything else in the game, the land you're in is "big". Travel may take some time, but for those of us who have played World of Warcraft... this will seem like nothing to you. _dry.gif

I recommend this to almost anyone. Nothing better than taking down a giant with just a sword. If you haven't heard of this game, give it a rent. If you have heard of it, you already know how much fun it really is.

^ funny.

AND HEY! That long travel shit ends at lvl 40. Even before that we had FPs in most cities and outposts, ports to major cities, summons, blimp/boat. SO hah!

I don't know. I don't think so. I need to steal it from him for a week so I can read the beginning story stuff and play through it all myself. =(

It is by the same people and uses the same basic design style but the games are not related. (in story)

I adored ICO, and hope to give this a look soon, but being completely broke..even renting is to much...bleh.
