Well my computer got some major virus' and we had to go to the back up. my dad hadn't saved anything from August onward so it was all lost; including my itunes downloads. Now, my ipod still has it all and I haven't plugged it into the computer because I am scared that I will lose all my other music.
My question, what should I do about this? |

^well yeah, my computer is virus free now...but my itunes doesn't have 500 out of the 940 songs that are on my ipod...I don't really feel like plugging it in and losing it all.

There are some programs that can transfer music from the iPod to your PC, but I can't think of any names right now. I have an installer somewhere for one, but I'm not on Windows right now so I can't check. (You want it for Windows, right?) You can also enable the viewing of hidden files, copy the iPod's music directory onto your hard drive, and then import the entire folder into iTunes by dragging the folder into iTunes. That might be your best bet because most iPod -> iTunes programs for Windows only let you copy so many songs without paying. |

yea, there should be some third party softwares to counteract that.
(michael, you know this is a prime example of the deficencies of itunes and of ipod's proprietary system) |

It's an example of why the RIAA's attempt to control music is bad. This example has nothing to do with the iPod's proprietary system, which I agree is bad, but that's not really the culprit here. |

(sorry this isn't really helping, but i have no idea of which program you should use, all i know is when i say you can't drag and drop music on ipods people always say "oh but you can you just have to download this program here") yes, but with something like napster, you don't loose the songs, you just log in and redownload them... transfer from your MP3 player to your computer, and log in... |
