DAMN YOU FOREIGNERS! if you're gonna live in America, at least speak good English. I hate all these people that come to my school and they get out of English class to take ESL and then they talk about you behind your back in their little language grr.

Technically, yes, its my second language. I a Hebrew-speaking toddler. However, when I was about 4 or 5, I started to learn English (school was starting). Ever since then, I've been way more fluent in English.

And no one has taken this as an offense? While I agree that if you live in the U.S. you should put some effort into learning the language, this kind of comment is unnecessary at the least. Do you know how hard it is to learn and be fluent with a second language? Granted I started learning English when I was 10, it may have been easier then but still tough. These "foreigners" have to start learning at even later ages which doesn't make it any easier, especially if they have to deal with people making fun of them and calling them "Fobs". How do you know they're talking behind your back? And if they are, how do you know what they're saying is bad? You're doing the same thing since they can't understand you. No language is "little". This isn't a flame, just proving a point.

Edit: Forgot about topic. Vietnamese first, English second, Japanese later

^I can tell they're talking about me [or my friends] because they'll say our names and then snicker and give us mean looks. And I've never called anyone a FOB, thank you very much.

Really? Do you speak English "good"?

I'm pretty sure ESL is a class you take to learn to speak English... Haha. It seems like you resent them for that. Like freecandies said, it's extremely hard to learn a second language. I learned at a young age too, so it was relatively easy. Do you speak something other than English? I doubt you'd understand if you didn't.

Anyway, I don't know if I answered. Korean first, English second.

I learned English and Bengali (the second most popular language in India, the first is Hindi) at the same time when I was growing up.

What do you mean by "good" English? No accent? Not really possible for older folks or for kids who just immigrated. And if you mean good grammar, the majority of native born Americans don't speak "good" English.

I took ESL classes until I was in 6th grade. What's so bad about being a foreigner and having to take ESL classes?

I do that. As in I'll talk to my friend in my native language and laugh about a joke we've shared while looking at random people. Sometimes, I'll give a little snicker because other people are looking at our craziness, it doesn't mean I'm laughing at anyone specifically. Maybe you're looking too much into it? huh.gif
