Good friends or more?, Does he really mean it? Options

First thing first, names were changed. I'm Robyn, my best friend is Chloe, the guy I like is Dean and my other friend is Rex.

For the past few days, we were working on our screenplays - Chloe, Rex, Dean, & I are in the same group. Even though we are writing seperate ones and only a group when we actually make a movie production from Chloe's screenplay, we enjoy working next to one another in the back of the classroom. However being a bum as he is, Rex only pops to the back whenever he wants to. But I don't mind him not being there, despite the fact that he makes things worse and totally likes to pick on me for fun. Anyway, Dean has been sitting next to me ever since then, while Chloe sits in front of us. We have been having so much fun, that we have hardly done any work. Yesterday wasn't that great though. Dean was all frustrated and when he's pissed, it's really freaky. But in the end, Chloe and I managed to cheer him up.

I didn't know that Dean was paying attention while I was talking with Chloe about needing to go out and buy some birthday gifts for 2 people this coming week. So all of a sudden, he goes, "I will drive you". I was so shocked by his offer and I got all nervous, since I liked him and he was so straight-forward about it. So blablabla. He gave me his number and told me to call whenever I could go. Sigh* Rex just had to pop up then and said some stuff. Dean replies him by saying stuff that he would never do to girls like Rex would do and you know when someone has their hand on your shoulder? & they kinda rub it sorta thing? Well Dean did that to me & Rex just HAD to go, "So why are you stroking Robyn?" That was totally embarassing!

Anyway, I called him up and said I could go out that night (it was yesterday). He said he will pick me up and off we go to Vaughn Mills. On the way there, the ride was arkward but it was nice - at least we talked, while music was blasting in the car and he had fun speeding whenever he could. Lol. Apparently I'm the only one who has never been freaked out from his sudden accelerations. Anyway, that's not the point. I was so nervous that I was quite quiet and at one point, he asked if I was nervous. No duhhh! I have never felt this way towards a dude and here he was, offering to spend the time together and being a totally, nice, laid back dude.

We shopped around but I was still missing a gift. So he said he will drive me to another mall. He does and as usual, we had nice conversations in the car. Even though throughout every car ride, when I was silent, he would look at me and just smile & chuckle. I asked him so many times what was so funny that at one point, I was like, "I look funny, don't I?" He said "no" and just kept on doing that. I really don't know why. What makes a guy do that to a girl? Mehh. I dunno, I just hope I wasn't looking stupid or something, or it's because he does think I'm cute or something (he said that in class the day before yesterday). While at the same time, he just thinks I'm hilarous. Lol. When in doubt, I say stupid things to ease up the tension. Whereas sometimes I don't even mean it. Like at the stop light, he pokes me in the arm repeatedly. I go: "I'm not going to poke you while you're driving!" He goes: "But I'm not driving right now!" o.O Funny how someone you like could make you say stupid things before you could stop yourself.

When we got to the mall, we discovered that the stores that we needed to go to were closed. So we walked back to the car but on the way there, I don't know how it lead to a topic about crushes. Anyway, Chloe, always seemed to fall for the wrong guy (the time ever since I have known her, the guys never seemed to be a good guy in some ways). So he askes me if I like the bad boy type of type and obviously it's a no. Then he asked if I liked anyone and once again, its a "no" (even though he knows there is someone because last time, i had a really bad day. and Chloe stupidly said "i cant say" when he guessed whether my crush was himself and said "no" about his first guess. & 2 days after the guessing day, he had asked her if my crush was in our class and if yes, don't say anything. but noo, she didn't hear it so she didn't say anything o.O). Then in the car, I was like, "do you like anyone then?" and he simply said, "that's for you to find out" with a slight smile.

Not much worth mentioning about the rest of the night that relates to my confusion about liking him. But he did ask me again about what was on the page I ripped out of my agenda (it said "Robyn (a heart) Dean" - my friend drew it all over an entire page - i was in a really bad mood and was so lost, that i ripped it into pieces the previous week). Obviously I didn't tell him what.

Anyway, before I got out of the car when he dropped me off, I gave him a hug. It was more like an arm for me since the other one was carrying my stuff already. But he leaned over and gave me an actual hug. It was great and I dunno what made me pull away within like..3 seconds? Yeaa. Sigh* I really don't know what to think. Like it wasn't just a friendly kinda hug to me, even though that was my intention. It just felt so right, espeically when he gave me like a tight kinda hug (but how tight can it be if you're in a car right? lol).

I dunno what to think right now. Some say it was obvious and it was somewhat like a date. Even though it wasn't. Some say if they were him, it was obvious that I like him. But I have no clue if he likes me back, or if we're really good friends. Even though he has been saying we have been good friends during the first week we've known one another. So I really don't know.

So yea. Sorry that it's really long ,but I really need some advice from other's point of view. Outside point of view, you know? Especially the questions that I have in there. I was surprised that he didn't mind doing anything or even driving around when the prices are so high o.O
