Ok, first of all, I have searched the site so there's nothing about this topic. Just a warning, it's a long one, I think...

Anyway, I picked up Thrice's new album the day it came out. Even though I was tired, I tried to stay awake the first couple of track. It was a long day and I didn't make it, I was too tired and fell asleep. After a while I took a chance at this new album. I have to say that they have taken themselves away from the mainstream or typical "emo"/"screamo" genre. In this album, I felt that they try to make it more of an "art" music rather than mainstream. In this album, Thrice have used less of the usual instrument and put something that wouldn't be in a "rock" album.

The track opens with their first single, "The Image of the Invisible". The first time I heard this song was at the Warped Tour and I liked it. Then through out the track, I felt their passion for different instruments, like piano and a little more synth. I hear more acoustic guitars in this album also. One of their "heavy" songs has to be "Hold Fast Hope" and "Like Moths to Flame". A lot of screaming and power is brought those songs, but there are more "heavy" sounding songs. One of my favorite track is "The Earth Will Shake". This song has like a prison chant feeling and the feeling of breaking free from prison. Then the track closes "Red Sky", a good song and I saw this live on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

If you are a Thrice fan, you would agree that this album doesn't sound like anything from their last couple of albums, it has more poetic sounding and pushes more of an artist than an entertainer. If you're a new Thrice fan, then I dont know if you would like it, unless you have an open mind of music. I would recommend listening to their previous album, The Artist in the Ambulance. Anyway, I believe that Vheissu is one of Thrice's best album yet. I'm sure they'll keep continuing to make good music. Believe it or not, there hasn't been a song on this album that I've skipped. Therefore, I recommend this album!

i love thrice, and i smiled when i saw this topic because i didn't think anyone who posted here liked them. i think vheissu's an amazing album unlike anything they've done before. the whole album just.. flows. i enjoy listening to the album as a whole rather than single songs.
i have to disagree about new fans not liking the album though, i've converted many people to thrice fans by playing image of the invisible for them and now they love thrice. i totally recommend listening to it.

I dont mind Vheissu, but I'm still liking their older stuff more. Not bad, but not their best.

On the way to our Homecoming dance, me and my friend were just blasting this album, soo vicious. He told me that they sound like Radiohead, or at least in this album. Yea, we both are looking forward to the concert in November 3. Woot!
