I'm having some issues with the Xanga skin tutorial that's listed on this site. I'm trying to get a layout based on this picture:

http://www.geocities.com/jade_faerie/layout1.jpg

but the <div> labels aren't working right--the sections appear underneath or above the image instead of on top of it.
Also, in the tutorial, it says that you should put the code into the "input header html" section--but I don't think that exists anymore. (I'm pretty new to Xanga; I used to be on Blogspot.) When I want to make a skin or customized layout, there's just one box for inputting all my code.

What should I do? Tips? Advice? Am I an idiot?! blink.gif

Oh wow. I'm not sure what happened, but it seems to be working now ... I don't know how that happened, but ... shrug.gif I won't fight it. You can see it at:

However, there is still an issue or two.

1. What do I need to do to get my $Posts$ formatted in the CSS I specified in the head of the page? The left $Profile_Info$ <div> seems to work, but not the right one.

2. How do I change how my posts are formatted in general--like what I want my date headers to look like, my "comments, eprops, whatever" line?

If I come up with any other problems I'll let you know too.

Here is my source code.

Oh yeah, and I'm having trouble getting my scrollbar to change color. It's just so awkward, especially in gray, but unfortunately necessary ... ::le sigh:: The sacrifices I make.

Here is the code I tried to use to make the scrollbar change. It's set in the head of the document.

um.okay. your code is kinda confusing because you don't code xanga with the normal website coding. (head, title, etc.) but anyways...it looks right to me.

Okay. Well, my problem with the scrollbar actually is that it doesn't show up colored in Firefox, but I just checked it in IE and it seems fine there ...

About the way I was coding: I set up the page in regular HTML on my computer and then transferred it to Xanga and changed what I thought I would need to. It's a little awkward, but it's easier for me to mess with a page on my computer than it is to mess with it online.

I still need to know how to format my posts so that the fonts are the right size (I want it to be the same size as the profile info) and line spacing and stuff. Did I make a mistake there?

It's for premium? You need to specify that when you show us the code, not everyone we help has premium.
You not supposed to comment CSS by the way, it's not exactly good. (the <!--&--> part.) So yeah. You can modify the CSS for regular xanga and it should work out the same.

Yeah, I know how the code is supposed to go ... and I'm pretty sure I did it right. The problem is that MY code doesn't want to work for my Xanga.

I do have the free Premium trial right now ... thinking about upgrading. (Dunno yet.) I didn't realize you could really code your Xanga at all unless you have premium.

Okay, never mind, I got the font-formatting to work. XP That took forever, and I'm still not sure what I did wrong in the first place ...

But one last thing (I think): How do you change the dividing line that divides the entries by their dates? I desperately want to get rid of it (or replicate it on the left menu--at least it would be consistent that way).

That might work. And btw, you can code your xanga without having premium. Don't pay the extra money to upgrade unless you want to remove the ad.
