Okay. I was introduced to WinAmp by a fellow filesharer and was in love. Later, I discovered Limewire from AOTS. I downloaded it. My computer had been acting horrible, slow, and full of pop-ups. Thankfully my mom's IT guy looked at my computer and his initial response was, "You're computer is REALLY messed up." After 1900 spywares and 109 viruses were uncovered so was the source- filesharing. If you're computer is acting in such a manner, I strongly suggest you seek help. Spyware is a terrible way for companies to gain knowledge of your personal information and prefrences to target you as a consumer.

I think it depends on what you're downloading.
I used to have LimeWire and I never had any viruses from it. For the most part LW should of warned you that there would be a virus at the beginning of a download.
I uninstalled it off my computer, but back in the days it was handy.

Well, I have Limewire, and I haven't had any trouble with it. Is it because you were also sharing files? And yeah, Limewires lets you know if the file is corrupted.

Spybot S&D only found about 5% of the spyware on my comp. I really support their mission, but it doesn't protect you from everything.

Use open source, it may be Limewire being the problem, (although i think limewire is open source.)

For the most part, I don't think it was LW that caused you the problem.
You just complimented on it, who's side are you on?

i am on the hacker side.... jk but really i like limewire.... i guess im siding with the people saying thats it harmless... but basically i do know that once u download the file its on ur system and if someone bugged it then they have control.. unless u delete it... but i never keep a song for long on there.. i just download... and put on my zen touch (mp3 player) and everythings fine XD

You can't just delete a file and expect it to be GONE.
