Brightening Your Day By Helping Someone Else

One of the best pick-me-ups for depression is to get your mind off your own problems and do something to cheer someone else up. If nothing else, send a card and make someone else's day a little brighter. When God lays someone on your heart, there's a reason behind it. Pray for them and act on his leading. You'll feel better and so will they. Trust me - it works!

What a cheerful topic, hah. But yeah that always makes me feel better--helping people out. Or I clean my room...that works too. Anything productive.

I love to pop in a favorite cd of mine that I made and rearrange my room or clean. It makes me feel better to know I made the place around me look better.. if that makes sense.

I have a friend that's manic-depressive. The last time he got his antidepressants, there was a recipe included! The recipe was for a "Blues-Buster Milkshake". You know what kind of milkshake it was? Well, blueberry, of course.

They included a plan for a dairy-based diet, too.

That's what I do! Throw in some rearranging of files on the computer, too.

Making others happy doesn't cheer me up, it just pisses me off more that they're happy.
