right... my parents think i'm a bad driver. apparently i don't need to go 25 Mph immediatly, i should work up to that speed over a distance of several blocks.

apparently, i shouldn't change lanes more than once every half hour.

apparently, going 40 in a 25 mph windy road is a bad idea. (ok that one probably is, but they still complain when i go 27. )

and apparently, it's much better to drive your car like an old lady, getting in everyone's way, going 50 (speed limit) in the fast lane of a highway (not regular road, highway), when the regular speed people are driving in the turn lane is 65.

AHHH.

please note, that i took both the drivers test, and drivers ed. both the examiner and the drivers ed instructor said i was a good driver.

yes. i have decided never to drive my parents.

because apparently, if the brakelights of the car in front of you even blink, you need to slam the brakes.

and no matter what speed you're going you should be 4 (4! i was taught 3, and that 2 was the true safe distance) seconds away...

bother for that.

yes, even if i'm going 25, the car is 5 car lenghts in front of me, if thier brakelights light up, and i dont' break, my parents start yelling at me for being unsafe.

i respond by driving at the posted speed limit and the suggested speed limit on turns. and by slamming the brakes, very very abruptly, to get to that speed.

you have no idea how long it takes to go through a turn at 15 miles per hour...

ahhhhh

yea. that's my rant.

Hey I am a bad driver, and not afraid to admit it. But Im working on it. My driving instructor told me I drive to slow. she said I was doing like 10 below the limit and that it was illegal. I was only trying to be careful though. Your parents are probably just not use to you driving so maybe that is why they are like that. Give them some time.

i do properly slow for conditions. so 1 mile on a windy road when it's raining takes me 3 or 4 minutes.

it takes me 10 minutes if i'm driving with them.

and what annoys me? they don't do what they tellme to do.

Eh, my mom can't make up her mind how she wants me to drive. First I'm too slow (2 under the speed limit) then too fast (5 over). Frankly, I don't care if people want to speed just because this is Georgia- but if I'm going to be allowed to comply to the other drivers, don't yell at me for going over. You can't even be ticked for 5mph over the speed limit. I'm a much better driver when my mom gets disctracted and stops paying attention to me. I can back out of parking spaces on my own, but if she shouts things at me as I pull out of the driveway, I am likely to go the wrong way because she's a horrid backseat driver when it comes to going backwards.

Plus, my mom does this really annoying thing where she presses the "break" (puts her foot down on the passanger side) before necessary, as if I'm not going stop. It drives me insane. And whenever she makes me ask for confirmation before turning or merging, I wind up hestiating and doubling my risk of getting hit, whereas if I ignore her and merge when I want to, it goes great. I could just really do without the "be sure to look back ana extra time" comments because, yes, I did that

Why not just deal with it? Your parents are just looking out for their safety, as well as yours, when it comes to driving.

Honestly, it's not something to just take forgranted, because your life is on the line.

Let them do all the complaining they want; Sooner or later you'll be driving on your own, and well, if you do whatever you want, it's your life.

i dont think i would be able to deal with that. backseat drivers make me very anxious. they are putting themselves in danger being that way lol. with roadraged people...you really shouldnt go under the speed limit esp in the fast lane :\

biggrin.gif biggrin.gif I always do the speed limit so I am always in the slow lane, I gave lots of space to the car in front of me, I use my brakes all the time, I just drive like a little old lady. I have a good driving record no tickets. My moms hates my driving she says I drive to slow and that I wait for cars too long before I turn, I tell her all the time....who is driving this car me or you.....she drives fast and close to other cars
