Does anyone else have parents that don't act their age?

My dad is really funny. He's like a geeky teenager in an adult body. He got CounterStrike earlier this year, and he hasn't stopped playing since. He's on the comp more than my brother and I have to fight with him to get online sometimes! The scary thing? The words "pwned" and "noob" have become permanent mainstays in his vernacular. Like when he cuts someone off on the freeway. "HA. That guy got pwned." When I do something stupid. "Geez, Lauren. You're such a noob." Just a reminder, this is my over 40 year old FATHER we're talking about. I don't hate having him act this way. I just think it's hilarious. Sometimes I think I can talk to him and relate to him better because he acts like a younger guy.

Anyone else have this going on in their life?

Wow, it sounds like you have cool dad. Bleh, I wish my parents are like that, but they're more old fashioned. My mom is trying to be "hip," but it isn't working haha.

your dad sounds awsome to me =/ "haha that guy got pwned" laugh.gif sounds like my kind of humor. but i can understand you wanting him to act his "own age" a bit. but i think if it helps you relate to him and makes talking to him easier...whats the problem? my dad is cool, but old fashioned. hes just funny in a old dad kinda way, haha. "geez lauren, your such a noob" hehe.gif

that's hilarious! what a cool dad. when my dad is mad sometimes, he would say "shit" which i find odd/a bit funny. he says it with a chinese accent. and my mom often tries to be updated, and when we go shopping, she tells me to get something and says "this is very IN!" it annoys me sometimes...=X

dude, lucky. My dad acts his age... he's so damn conservative... makes it so hard to talk to him. and my mom, she's an extremist kind of conservative... which means that I can't stand to be within 50 feet of her. lol.

It sounds like you have an AWESOMELY AWESOME dad. Lol. I wish my dad was like yours. But you know, it won't be weird if your dad likes to play videgames and stuff... aren't videogames entertainment for EVERYONE? Well anyways it's not weird (and it's definitely cool) as long as your dad doesn't live up to his responsibilities as an adult/parent. For instance if he doesn't take care of you or love you unconditionally, then there's something called, "time to grow up" that he needs to get in his mind.

In some ways, my dad tries to.
I just hate it when that happens.
I just wish for him to be one of those dad's who are serious.
I'm just one of those wierd people.

Well, my mom watches cartoons, and I mean recent cartoons, not like Tom & Jerry or Looney Toons. She LOVES the Fairly Oddparents.

My dad isn't all that obsessed with video games like I am, but he does enjoy playing them. He loves acting childish sometimes, he gives me and my sister a lot of laughs. He likes to drive fast, he has a nice speaker system in his car so he likes listening to rock really loud. He can be a d**k sometimes, but all together..I enjoy him as a father.

My mother on the other hand, she used to do childish things with me and my sister, such as pour water on the kitchen floor and tell the dogs to come here (and they would be racing, so once the hit the slippery floor, they'd slide around.) My mom used to not close the door when she goes to the bathroom and she always tells people when she "had to go pee."
