Alright. I don't know if this is in the right place but if it isn't.. sorry just move it -_-.
So I've seen that CB has many musicians that play all sorts of instruments. So I was curious about the setup of your instrument - such as the brand stuff like that. So I'll start. My Alto Sax Selmer C* Mouthpiece Optimum Ligature (Soon to be) Buesher BU-4 Model Vandoren size 3 Reeds Rico Royal size 2.5 Reeds Rico Size 2.5 Reeds My Bari Sax Selmer C* Mouthpiece School Ligature -_-; Bundy Bari Sax -_-; - maybe i'll be getting the Selmer next year La Voz size 2.5 Reeds Rico Royal Size 3 Reeds And my Kawai piano with no other features. |

grand brand piano.
it's an upright. the brand is 'grand'. yes i know confusing. my friend has a buffet clarinet, which is supposedly very good. my sister has an armstrong flute, with a solid silver headpiece or whatever you call it... |

Erm..
Flute: - Gemeinhardt. I don't know the model number or anything - A good headjoint, apparently. Silver with a gold plated embouchure hole. Piano: - Yamaha (either U2 or U3, I can't remeber) Upright - It has one of those things where when you close the top lid thing, it doesn't come down immediately, instead, it's slowed down by some sort of mechanism that I probably wouldn't understand. |

Eww, piccolos. I hate those things. Passionately. Definitely one of my least favorite parts of marching band, and I don't even have to play the cursed thing.

I'm not an expert on the woodwind instruments I play, but both my oboe and clarinet are cheap Selmer student instruments; I'm not sure what brand of reed I have anymore. Haven't had a chance to play them in a while, and I don't have them handy.
Bass guitar is a Washburn P-bass copy; guitar is a cheap Lyon. Bass amp is a 100W 15-inch Crate, and really, the only nice music-related equipment I own. |

^x6 Yeah, tweaak I know. I don't even play my piccolo much, it hurts my ears. Everyone had to wear earplugs during symphony practice because the piccolo parts had to play these really high parts.
^ Eveyrone has their own preference. I think Yamahas are the best, and I was going to get one, but my teacher recommended a Sankyo for me at the end. |

QUOTE(mipadi @ Sep 26 2005, 11:34 PM) Yep, but only for fun; my actual role in band was oboe (or drums in marching band). I really like the clarinet, though, I wished I had played that instead. Ah, I see. It's interesting that you'd rather play clarinet, because ereryone I know who plays clarinet doesn't like it much, except those who don't play it as their main instrument. Same with the drumline. The piccolos are a really devoted section, and always wind up tuning and warming up and generally practicing the most, and typically in the worst places. The drums I can just walk away from, but those damn piccs carry |

^yes, but they're horrifying when tuning. Last year one of of our judges tapes, they went from talking about something to saying "wow that's a lot of piccolos! you're brave!" We had about 14 in a band of 140 (last year). He mentioned our large amount of piccs 3 more times.
QUOTE(mipadi @ Sep 26 2005, 11:41 PM) Mm, I wish clarinets were allowed in the jazz band...not that I'd make it anyway, but it was traditionally a jazz instrument so it should be reguarded as such more often |

QUOTE(brownsugar08 @ Sep 26 2005, 11:48 PM) Wow we had like 5 in a band of 308 last year. And now we have 3 in a band of 300. -- I always thought the clarinet failed as a jazz instrument, and should be completely replaced by the soprano sax in the jazz setting. Wow We don't have soprano saxes either. Fortunately, our jazz band is pretty damn good anyway |
