oh man, that picture makes me want to draw it with pencil and paper. if i had more time today i would just sit down and do it too. But i like the effect, i'm sorry your photoshop got taken away. That's not shabby for MS paint :)

i like it! the swirlies are really pixelated (like you said), but i don't know if you can fix that with ms paint. the sparkles are great.
