Band is so fun!
I just play the piano and flute though.
But I haven't been in band in so long.

Woohoo, the band thread is back!

We just started playing concert pieces, since they finally caught on that we were bored of marching music, since we've been playing since July, but that means we have to play from the method book too now, which I loathe.

We got our whole show on the field minus the last 4 sats. Haven't actually played the closer marching yet, though

OUr exhibition is on monday, the other half of the county's is tonight

THERE ARE RECORDINGS ONLINE BUT PEOPLE SIMPLY REFUSE TO LISTEN TO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. And during rehearsal one day, a trombone player got up in the middle of the director's sentence and said: "You can just ask the other trombone players why I'm leaving." And sort of. Slammed the door.

It was sorta freaky.

I'm taking a semester off so I haven't truly experienced college band quite yet. I'm still taking lessons with the teacher.

I'm quite nervous for the spring semester. =/

Had double band today. I was so tired during the first half (normal class period) that I couldn't even play my warm ups correctly, let alone the piece, even though I can usually play it quite well. Fortunately, I woke up during the second half, so I was actually playing well when the BD came and sat next to me to play AGAIN (always bu me. always. can he not ever go bother someone else?) He then went to go conduct, because apparently the assistant wasn't doing a sufficient job today, and while I was free, I also cound't show him that I don't suck all the time, only in the mornings.

He walked over and said some relly obviously simple spanish words, and the girl next to me said "wow, he must have had like 6 cups of coffee this morning." thnen, a few minutes later he walked by and said "is it hot in here, or have I had 7 cups of coffee?" the sad thing was that he probably actually had

Then he went on to make another one of the F# lesssons, which is essentially just an excuse to sit there and stick his middle finger up at us. It went nicely with "See, doesn't she just look like she wants to kick some white person ass?"

It's been the while since he last experimented with 'how many things i can say that should get me fired.' It was nice, and reminiscent of freshman year

Exhibition Monday. OUr old assistand BD is judging us (he also happened to show up to our practice thrusday with his fiancee, which distracted everyone and made our last run throughs really bad. I ran into the drumline)

BAND!!! Whooo! It rules so much! I'm in guard...There's only SIX guard members in our band...It's crazy. We do tall flags, streamers, swingflags, 8 ft flags, and a dance. I love it! It's just...yeah.

We have a competition Saturday at Bowdon, Georgia. I hope we get first in class...That would just be awesome!!! I'm so excited!

I'm actually a rookie...This is my first year in band, but I plan to have a good two more years before I graduate high school! :D

heh, do you? I almost got myself banned from there tongue.gif

You really would like to see Lassiter. They're f**king amazing. I'm so glad we're competing at their school again this year. That's where Suzzette (brownsugar08) goes, by the way. She marches, too.

Oh. You should post. I'm really unpopular there, because I stirred up shit and wound up getting people from cb to go practically spam bomb them whistling.gif All that over my spelling out the word "hell" ...

Yeah, Suzzette does go to Lassiter, so I may see her in October

Yeah, I don't think our BD cares enough to do BOA. He's never even mentioned it as a consideration. We only go to competitions we can't win unless something miraculous happens, because it builds character or something. Last year we won our last competition, and that's the one we're not going back to- not the one at which we got skrewed over.

I used to post there but I could never get into it (I was the Pink_Clarinetist). I was much more into drummajors.com, although I don't know why.

And Nicki, my band director in high school was the same way. It really sucked because we had some very talented players with a lot of potential and he just...didn't care. *sigh*

Kris, there's really no need to read the last 6 pages if you're not in band. It mostly just chatter. This has practically turned into a diary of what interesting has gone on in your band

Yeah, it is hard to get into. Had I not found a couple people who live in my state to talk to, I would have quit long ago

Really? Mine isn't that bad, and we have some strong players, but despite not going to BOA, we do go to the toughest invitationals around. We're pretty good, but we're not BOA good, so it's ok.

Well, my band was good but our director never pushed us because he didn't care.

Hmmm....is anybody else doing college band-- or planning to, at least? Any music majors?
