QUOTE(ermfermoo @ Sep 17 2005, 10:13 PM) "John Wilson doesn't look much like a murderer," said Sheriff Monahan as a young man emerged from the farmhouse carrying a naked baby boy. The sheriff stopped the patrol car behind Wilson's yellow sedan. He drew his pistol, whispered to Dr. Haledjian to wait and called: "Raise your hands, John!" Wilson halted, amazed. He sat his infant son carefully on the fender of his car and lifted his hands. "What's it all about, Sheriff?" "Murder. We have a witness who says you entered Moose Long's bar last night after closing. Half and hour later Mrs. Long found Moose strangled to death with a a yellow scarf." "That's a lie. Why --" "Look out!" cried Haledjian, as the baby scampered onto the yellow hood. Cooing happily, he attempted to stand. Haledjian just saved him from toppling to the ground. "The witness is mistaken, Sheriff," Wilson resumed calmly. "I've been in this car since eight o'clock last night driving down from Philadelphia. I just arrived five minutes ago." The sheriff looked at his watch. "Then you drove the six hundred miles between Philly and here in a little over twelve hours," he said dubiously. "Can you prove I didn't?" snapped Wilson. "Nothing could be easier," declared Haledjian. What was wrong with Wilson's alibi? Edit// Oh, here's the score Ariel (ermfermoo) - Lilgymnast6 - 2 Felicia (i heart john) - 1 |

Fenders get hot after driving for a long time. He placed a naked baby on the fender of his car, supposedly 5 minutes after getting there.
Yeah. I'm getting good, eh? |

GOSH ARIEL.
Err...here's an easy(ish) one. A man lies dead in an alley with a tape recorder next to him and a gun in his hand. A police officer found him and picked up the tape recorder in hopes of determining his death. He pushes play on the tape recorder and hears the man's voice say "I'm ending my life because I've went bankrupt," followed by a gunshot. The policeman filed a homicide report instead of a suicide. Why? |

Detective didn't have to rewind the tape. It was already done.
Not so difficult. I am so into these things. Here, I've got one for you. A man, last seen at a party, was found dead laying on a bench at the local park, a gun in his hand. His Suicide Note Read: "I wish there was a better way, but I have nothing left to live for." and signed 10:45 pm. A detective has found him with a bullet would to his head, blood dripping down in a straight line. A person at the party was questioned. The man was a bit depressed when he left the party. At around 10 o clock PM the man left the party and drove off in his car, although there was a windstorm outside that lasted till around 11 o clock. His body was found the next morning in the park. When asked what had happened, the detective answered "This man was murdered and then brought here where his suicide scenario was arranged." How did the detective know? |

Because the windstorm was until 11, and the note was signed 10.45. If it really had been 10.45, the blood wouldn't have been in a straight line. :D Yay, I got one! |

Detective Palumbo had just finished examining the body of Debbie Layne which was lying on couch in her plush living room.
"Mrs. Layne was hit on the back of her head 3 or 4 times with the butt of that pistol," the sleuth said. The .45 lay on the floor near the body. Sheriff Hobbs was dusting the weapon for fingerprints. "I've telephoned her husband at his office and only told him to come home, I dislike breaking bad news. Will you do it?", the sheriff said. "I'll do it," said Palumbo as he watched the body being removed from the scene. Then he took a seat in a lounge chair to wait for Mr. Layne. The Ambulance drove away just as Mr. Layne arrived. He came into the living room and asked, "Where's Debbie? What's happened?" "I'm sorry to have to tell you that she was murdered about 3 hours ago," said Palumbo. "Your cleaning lady found the body and called the sheriff." "I can't find any fingerprints on this gun," said the sheriff. "I'll send it to the lab." Mr. Layne's face flushed as he got angry and said, "please find the fiend that clubbed Debbie to death, I'll put up a twenty-five thousand dollar reward!" "Save your money," said Hobbs. "The murderer won't be that hard to find." Why? |

Mr.Layne was never told that she was clubbed to death, one would assume that she was shot.

Detective Hobbs found the notorious gangster Scarface Joe found lying face down on the bar room floor. A bullet had entered his left ear and must have lodged somewhere in his brain as there was no exit wound.
The bullet matched the gun that was owned by Bernie the Bull, another hoodlum, and Joe's rival gang member. It was well known that they hated each other but frequented the same bar. Bernie said that he was the only customer in the bar when Joe came in and started yelling at him. "He was like a madman," said Bernie. "He pulled out a knife and started coming at me. I shot him in self-defense as he charged head-on at me swinging that knife." Joe's body lying close by still had the knife clutched in his left hand. "He just wouldn't stop coming at me," exclaimed Bernie. "I had to shoot, I had no choice." The only witness was the bartender, another shady character, who agreed with Bernie's story. Detective Hobbs just smiled and said, "you boys will have time to think of something better than that story on the way to the slammer." Why didn't he believe them? |

^um... I don't know if it right but he didn't believe them because the bullet entered from the left ear. The guy told the detective that he came at him head on.

When the bitter cold that had frozen most of the Tahoo River practically all winter began to pass, a small boy noticed something red just below the surface. It turned out to be a scarf – wrapped around the neck of a man. The body was further clothed in thick soled shoes, two sweaters, rough trousers, work gloves and a brown stocking cap. Bud Kobs, missing since the previous November, had come ashore, encased in a tomb of ice. Kobs had been wanted in the slaying of Otis Ware. Art Byrnes, a partner with Ware and Kobs in a junkyard by the river, had witnessed the killing. One the morning of November 23, while the men were moving a pile of pipes, Kobs and Ware and argued, Byrnes had told the coroner’s jury. In a fit of rage, Byrnes said Kobs had seized a three foot length of cast iron pipe and hit Ware on the head. Tossing the pipe away, Kobs had dashed for the frozen river. He got half way across, Byrnes said, and fell through the ice. “Kobs couldn’t swim,” Sheriff Monahan told Dr. Haledjian the day after the body was found. “He must have banged his head on the ice and never regained consciousness. The autopsy showed a severe contusion on the base of the skull. Kobs had a criminal record,” concluded the sheriff. “We matched his fingerprints against those on the pipe last November. He’s the murderer all right. Case closed.” “Case nearly closed,” corrected Haledjian. Why not closed?

Mr. Briggs, a large, muscular, eccentric billionare, had shot himself inside one of his small british sportcars. "you know those european cars are sealed up really well. that's probably why no one heard anything. ", commented a junior dectective. "all the doors and windows are closed, so that makes sense", said the inspector, peering at the the 22 caliber revolver in Mr. Briggs' right hand and the gunshot in his temple. "but i don't think he shot himself". why would the inspector think so? (ALL then information you need is there. don't have to ask for specifications or anything.) |

I think it has something to do with the gun being in his right hand or the fact that its a European car. Nragh. It might come to me soon.
Very nice job, Justin, on the other one. I compliment you. |

This riddle was on a TV show, and I wonder if anyone remembers it...
What is something that has no weight, can be seen with the naked eye, and if you put it in a barrel, it will make the barrel lighter? HINT: Are you afriad of the dark?... |

I think its light. A hole wouldn't make it lighter, would it? Unless something is inside and can leak out through the hole.

QUOTE(sadolakced acid @ Sep 19 2005, 8:41 PM) NOT FAIR, YOU STOLE MY ANSWER AND ADDED IT TO YOURS. Light has no weight, can be seen by the naked eye (considering light can be seen while darkness is the absense of light, and thus is a blind spot to your eye), and if you put light in a barrel, it would make it lighter (although it doesn't make grammatical sense. I dunno). In European cars, is the drivers seat on the right or left side? |

LoL Light can not make it lighter...
The answer is a hole. You can see it, you can put a hole in a barrel, and it will make it lighter depending on the size of the hole... |
