How has Katrina Affected YOU? Options

I know some people are tired of hearing about Hurricane Katrina over and over again, and I know there are other topics on it, but I was wondering how Katrina has affected you as individuals.

For example, gas prices, that affects everyone. Tell how Katrina has affected you and/or your friends and relatives.

Gas is crazy. Traffic on the road is crazy. Traffic in school, which 500 New Orleans students were admitted, is crazier than ever. Traffic at the Y is crazy, but I like this traffic because I can actually do something about it by helping these people the best I could.

his show is usually replayed at 7, but this week the time has moved down to 8 because at 7 they are showing a news broadcast. damnit.

i live in texas so there's a few students from new orleans in my school.

I didn't care .210931092830129831092740892714 as much about the Tsunami as I did about Hurricaine Katrina.

oh yeah and gas prices are up...i bet by the time i start driving it'd be $5

sad thing is (about gas prices)...it's like a $1.40 CND, which, depending on how you work it out, like 1.5 times as much as it is in the states.

And I feel so worse about it. Like I'm scared. I feel like I'm never going to be safe now on. I heard that there's going to be a huge tsunami in Washington State T_T;;; which it sounds really terrible.

Hmm, I haven't really been affected by Katrina personally, I don't know anyone down there, and I don't drive. But I do feel really bad about what had happened to the people of New Orleans and my heart goes out to them.

my school is over populated as of Aug with almost 4000 kids (school original's max capacity was 3400.. 38 new portables this year)

and we are getting over 30 kids a day from Lousianna

It has made me look down on the American government. I think I started actually reading/caring about political articles because the American government sickened me on their slow acts to help the people. It's also made me want to help out more poeple, be more enviornmental friendly and whatnot.

hmm it hasnt really affected me personally but gas is a bitch so my moms wont take me to the cingular store because she doesnt want to waste gas..oh and we have 3 new people from lousiana in one of my classes plus i seen like 2 more in the hallways

I've actually had 4 out of 8 teachers lecture about it for an entire period in the last 2 days...it's madness!

Well, my basement got flooded which would've taken all the computers and the big screen if i hadn't caught it, so I was pretty thankful to have gone downstairs before leaving for school.

It has made me hate Bush even more, and has also given me an incentive to get off my lazy bum and do something about what has happened. I wish I could be one of those people who have gone down there themselves and physically made a difference. But since that can't happen i guess donating is all i can do for now.

Well, I live in Louisiana (in Lake Charles), and we're affected badly. None of the cellphones are working, mail is missing, there is no money in the banks, and fast food restaurants have run out of food because everything comes from New Orleans. Also, the evacuees have come here. They're staying in all our public places, which means we can't have concerts or anything, and they're starting school here-- over 1000 new students. It's also sad because Louisiana is like a country of its own with all the traditions and heritage and with New Orleans being the center of it all, I wonder if anything will ever be the same again...

It hasnt affected me yet but according to my teacher, the victims of the hurricane might be sent to hawaii.. (because we have hotels and place for ppl to stay..) If they come to hawaii, then the tourists won't come..if the tourists dont come, my dad could possibly lose his job..if he loses his job, I'll be affected..

I get sad when I see all the abandoned animals, and I hate it when every single topic of the day is Hurricane Katrina. I guess they have moved on from Natalie (missing girl in Aruba)...and sadly, the other way it has affected me was being annoyed be hearing my name constantly. At least I get to hear Conan O'Brien say it which is as close as he will ever have anything to do with me. lol.

I have friends and relatives that live in new orleans. Thankfully they survived. All of their possessions are gone. It makes me so grateful for everything I have.

There are about 617 victims who have transferred to schools in my county alone. We have about 41 people right now, and today we had a welcoming breakfast type thing for them, but I didn't get to attend, since I'm not in NSLT because I have approximately no leadership skills whatsoever.
