im not really sure but a mention a song anyways.... "Better Open the Door" by Motion City Soundtrack is about a guy saying that it would be better for the girl if the girl left him because he is afraid "for fear I'll sink the ship and drag us both down." or in other words, he doesnt want her to be dissapointed and etc...
anyways.. that's as close i could get to finding a song like that.. |

the first song that i thought of was "i'll never break your heart" by the backstreet boys but its sorta like.. he wants to ask her out but knows that she might say no because she's afraid to give up her heart again. i dont know if that helps you any but i'll come back to this topic once i think of some song that may relate to your feelings.
