QUOTE(IGB @ Apr 16 2005, 6:23 PM)
there's no such thing as American ANIME.  It'd be called cartoon, or something.  tongue.gif
*

Ok just to note.

When someone says American Anime, they mean that it is an american show who has attempted to copy, rip off, or imitate the anime style.

Webster defines anime as; a style of animation originating in Japan that is characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes.

This implies that it can spread to other countries and cultures.

Therefore American anime does infact exist.

Oh, and Ive never even heard of this Last Air Bender.

I love Avatar I'm obsessed. Can't wait till next season because then Aang should be done with like the waterbending soon if he wants to keep the fire lord from harnessing the comets power and finishing the war.

Told you I was obsessed.

Thats like saying egg rolls are called different things if made in different countries.

Theyre both eggrolls, just different styles. If an american company makes kimonos, they dont call them bathrobes instead. Theyre still freaking kimonos.

As alwayz this show was first made in japan.. You can download it just under the name Avatar. Not Avatar the Last Air Bender. But truthfully this anime is pretty interesting to watch. Not only saying the subb'd version but also the dubb'd one on I think its Nick? anyways. its pretty fun to watch with how they added tai chi to make out the motions of the element bending. =P

Because I'm almost 21. lol It's intended for younger age groups it seems. It has a really cute story line, and the way they animate the different bending techniques is like poetry. Of course, that could have something to do with the references for these being what they are. :P

Haha this anime was suppose to go out to the masses.. Because in the Japanese one its a bit different. Reason I like it because how they bend and everything is real martial arts and its called Tai Chi. So if your familiar with that then its awesome.

Well said. :)

Omg... for the first time i think that there is such thing as a good american anime... Nickeleon sure has made some crappy shows but man... this show really has potential its one of the most hilarious and a very unqie type of anime
*

That's true as well. Compared to Totally Spies, Teen Titans, etc. etc. Airbender is the best. The show doesn't lay on the crap / cheesy anime cliches (chibies, sweat drops, you know the bit)... like Totally Spies. It's kiddish but still entertaining. It's done really well. Nailed the culture aspect of it right.
BTW, I think it's okay for people not like American anime because it's crappy, but don't hate it just because it's American. If you do, you are close-minded and you suck. _smile.gif
:)*Random Question of the day (don't ask)* :)
If you could be a fire bender, an air bender, a water bender, or an earth bender, which one would you be?
(For me it would be air).

I know, I saw them talking about it one day. I love martial arts, though I can't do any. My husband does some Kendo...but it's been awhile and he's out of shape.

Kino...I would be an air bender too. I'm not really fond of water or fire. And I just don't feel earthy. lol Even though...I'm pretty sure I'm a fire sign, astrologically speaking of course.

I did Tai Chi for about 2 days.. Haha man it takes too much patience so I gave up haha =P...

Oh man which bender would I be is sort of hard... I really like water and fire and air... Can't I just be the avatar and have them all? haha

I would be air. Because fire is wild and dangerous, water you need water to be able to bend it, and earth is just tooo hm....

^^ Air sounds good to me too. The reason why I say that is because you could use air to manipulate all the other elements around you.

I want that pet of his too.. I forgot its name but flying in the air on a creature doesn't sound that bad =P. And especially air bending looks fun because of all the fighting styles they are able to use. I really like the motions he uses when he dodges because of the air pushing him.
