how can he not be a "normal person"? because he's lower class than you and can barely make it day to day?

just give him $20. that's plenty for 3 days and since he's waiting on a paycheck he should be fine.

It's up to you if you want to give him money. A couple of bucks may be fine, but if you give him a lot, he might come back for more. And sometimes, you might not be sure what you're paying for. Some hobos are truthful while others just want your money for other things. You have to be careful.

omg you don't even know if what he said is the truth. He asks for twenty dollars and you're going to give him twenty dollars. W-T-F.

Don't let your mom give him more. He might just ask for more later; in fact, that's really likely, since he'll think you're going to give it to him the next time too.

It's a good thing to be nice and giving to other people and all...but...eh, you have to protect yourself too.

Like Evan said, he's lucky you even gave him some money.
I wouldn't give him anymore because then it will probably become a habit and everytime he wants money he will ask you guys more and more.
So no don't give him anymore.

That happened to me before! I was out shopping with my friends and there was this guy walking around asking people for money because he said he got lost on his way to Poughkeepsie and he didn`t have anything with him. Me and my friends all chipped in like 10 bucks but when we were walking back home he came up to us and started asking us for ALL the money we had left. He should just be satisfied with what we gave him :p

I wouldn't give him any money at all. How do I know he's waiting on a pay check? Also, if people give him money and food and clothes, where's the initiative to do better in life? If I gave him anything, it would be leftovers.

....

I wasn't justifying your decision. I could care less if you give a guy $20 even if he's lying and trying to earn free money. I was voicing my opinion, and you're doing just the same to me when you say "then so be it."

I'd say run.

Run far, far away.

I mean, chances are he's lying about that 'paycheck'. I mean, in order to have a paycheck, you have to be employed, which he is obviously not if he's roaming the streets.

Meh just give him a few dollars.
OMG OMG. This reminds me of this one time, I was in a parking lot with my mom, and this hobo that goes there regularly to beg for money went up to my mom, and she didn't even see him, and it was so hilarious 'cause her face was like O_O! And she was like "AHHH! GET AWAY!!" And it was freaking funny as hell but yeah, I felt bad for the guy. biggrin.gif
Anyways.

A guy in Israel, well dressed, came up to me and asked me for money in the parking lot of a mall. He said his car broke down and he needs bus fare to get to a gas station. So I gave him some money. He walked away.

...In the opposite direction of the bus stop.

give him 50 cents, the direction of the nearest pay phone, and the phone number of the salvation army.

there are so many religious and non religious charities out there that no one needs to get money from random people on the streets unless they're going to use the money for something charities won't let them do.

Why are you talking like hobos are a completely different species? They're just people who made very bad decisions earlier in their life.

Sounds like he's lying. If he had a job, he'd probably still have money from his last paycheck and wouldn't need so much money to last him 3 days. And if he was really desperate for money, he wouldn't just be waiting on your family. He'd be on the move, asking several other people. He just knows your mom is more trustworthy than others, so he thinks she'll give him whatever he wants. I suggest that you tell your mother what you think and that it'll only a few days until he gets his 'paycheck'. He can survive. wink.gif

Buy 2 bags of those 99 cent doritos, and shove them in his hands.
That'll last him.

You should just tell your mom to buy him McDonald's, or food.
I mean, what if he spends all of the money your mom gives him on weed and ciggaretes[sp?]?

After 3 days, cuss at him if he still asked for money.
On your 2nd day, tell him not to come over or else he'll get arrested.

You can just go to a dollar store and buy him food. it's all one dollar. happy.gif

OMG HOBOS ARE SCARY! I think I have a phobia or something. anyways..."give a mouse a cookie and he'll want some milk" or however it goes. FLIPxADDICTION is right, give him food instead of money or just don't give him any money at all and walk away.
