White history month?, racism Options

:sigh: i know ur not so naive not to know that this is a white man country. white history month is every month. how many black,hispanic,asian etc leaders do u see getting a holiday compared to whites? hell remember they didnt even want to give martin luther a holiday. we learn about white history every day at school. hell we havent celebrated a martin luther king day yet at our school. there is a reason why there is ONLY white presidents, why we are called "minority". And all minorities have a classification like african american,hispanic American,Native American,Asian american etc. caucasion's just get to be "americans" . in most of my classes there are at least 5 minorities and the rest are white. things like this has become such a norm now that we dont even recognize it anymore.one thing i dont get about black history month is, so what after febuary is over everone will be like " okay thats enough with the black people" i think we should acknowledge evryones race's accomplishments all year round. not for just one month.

all the arguments you guys brought up have already been disputed and... "owned" and when you insist on posting up an overused and "owned" argument, it's 1) against debate rules 2) tiringly redundant and 3) stupid.

what i said was its obvious that america is a white country im not saying a racist white country. but most of everything is primarily owned and ran by caucasions more than minorities. therefore we learn more about about white history more than any other. sure theres not a "white history month" because white history month is every month. even the government knew that. thats why they decided to make a black history month. which they didnt want to do for awhile.

I agree with you there. If you also notice that when black people say the N word it's okay, but if white people say the N word, they'd be giving out death certificates. I mean I know what happened to them in the past was horrible but there are people besides African Americans who did a marvelous job on making this world better. Ben Franklin founded electricty but he never got a holiday did he? And to my surprise nor did Helen Keller. They really shouldn't make racial holidays. It is very unfair and I find it pointless to dig in the past when we have the future to look up to.

Other races were mistreated in the past too by the way. Look at the Asian and European rail road workers that were overworked to finish up one locomotive.

One, don't be silly. I call myself American and I'm not white. My co-workers, who are white, black, hispanic are all Americans and we recognize each other as such. Don't take the ignorance of the few and stereotype the many. White, black, Asian, Hispanic are all terms tied to ethnics, NOT nationality. For someone to say another person is not "American" because he/she's not white means the he/she doesn't know the difference between nationality and ethnicity.

A lot of schools in the US observe MLK jr day with getting the day off as it is a national holiday. Don't be lame. Google "schools closed for MLK jr day" and you'll get a bunch of school districts ALL OVER THE US that close in observance of MLK jr. Don't tell me that your school do not do something to observe the day because that would be a lie. Even many private schools do as well, at least in Houston.

As for your comment about White presidents, it shows you haven't read the thread like you said you have because I addressed it before on PAGE 8 of this thread.

Here's a better wording for general understanding    and sums up what I mean to say:

"Let someone dare to bar from the debate a Black candidate with the polled support of more than half the Black Democratic public".

And how many Blacks do you see in Congress? How can anyone expect Americans to elect a Black President when we can hardly keep a Black Senator in office? Same with ANY other minority.

Oh yea, I'm quite aware that Jesse Jackson ran for the Democratic Party nomination but didn't make it the both times that he tried, and that Colin Powell was expected to be a candidate in 1996 (but he chose not to run). There are more current ones but their names are lost to me at the moment.

The point is, I know there have been minorities running for President and there are a few who are expecting to run in the future. But the point is NOT that minorities are not in office due to racism, I believe, it has MORE TO DO with the question of whether or not America is READY to have a minority President. (I don't know the answer because I have no preference at the moment)

If you have an answer for it, go for it.

Also, I'd love to hear you justify the phrase "white man's country" and how that applies to America.

About the number of minorities in your classes... have you ever thought that maybe there are not many minorities in your classes because there aren't as many minorities living in areas zoned to your school? Think BEYOND THE BOX. Stop looking at the wall and look outside the window.

And about America being run by white people, I talked about that, too. Another evidence of you not reading the thread.

When you're in an Asian country, you'd learn Asian history. When you're in Europe, your studies will be focused on European history first. When you're anywhere in the world, you'll be taught history of the country you're in, right? Does this make sense to you? Then it should make sense that when you're in America, you'd focus on America history, which comprised of white men. However, that's not all you learn in Amerinca history, because that's not all schools teach. Along with White men, you learn about Blacks when Blacks made impact in American History. You'd learn about Asians when Asians made impact in American history and the same about Hispanics.

If your school doesn't offer all this, then you seriously need to bring this up to the BOARD OF EDUCATION and demand all the education I've mentioned. However, my suggestion to you would be: PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS and you'll learn all that I said and more.

yeah, i know what your saying. but those are still our classifications. i didnt pull all those out of my ass, they do exist. sure i dont go around seeing people as those classifications. But i know if i look at any information on me, or even any of our standarized test it will say "african american" for a caucasion, it wont say "white american" or "caucasion american" or "european american" everyone has a classification like that except for caucasions, why do "native americans" have to be called Native americans? in my opinion they should just be the ones just called americans,(in their classification) . wouldnt it make sense if caucasions were called "european americans"? just as we are african american, native american, yada yada yada.

actually the funny thing is, there is alot of black kids at our school. they split evryone up. its kinda fishy when every class has only 1 to 3 (3 is like wow) black kids in a class, but oh well, i got alot of white friends. i remember once when we got new seating arangements(we could sit where ever we wanted) a black kid sat next to me and the teacher is like "no, thats gonna happen haha" and moved him.
now that would've been all good if i actually knew the kid. but now im just giving u random chat

Uh... no, I took 2-4 standardized tests and will take more in the future and I know for certain that what you're saying is wrong. "White", "Black", "Asian/Pacific Islander" and "Hispanic" are the choices. Where do you come up with "American" as a choice for Whites? If any of those tests put "American" for Whites, they must also list all the other nationalities that would make up Hispanics, Asians, and Blacks. So revise that argument because it's completely wrong.

What do you expect? Someone has to run the country. No, I'm not blind to the fact that it would be a hard journey to gain executive powers as a minority, but I know it's not impossible. By saying that it's a White man's country, you make the journey impossible before it even started.
And since Whites FOUND America, it does make a lot sense that they're leading for now.
